Hi everyone!
This might be a little too early for a thread like this, but I submitted my online application for the spring at COC and I'm so anxious yet excited!
Anyone else here already go ahead and do that? What's everyone's stats who's applying?
I have been studying for the TEAS since May, and it feels so real now that my application is in!
lets get this thread going :)
Congrats everyone!!!!! Be sure to attend orientation and meet ALL the deadlines they give you. Make an appt now for physicals! See you on campus in Feb!
Thanks for giving us hope all the way!! it was kind of a long wait, well not really but it felt very long. Blackboard will not be available for us until the 20th. Is this a type of physical that has to be done specially for the school? or could you use a physical if you had one few months ago?
Hi guys I'm currently in my first semester of COC nursing and honestly if anyone is having second thoughts about choosing COC... DONT! This program is amazing and the professors are even more amazing! I can't even begin to describe how grateful I am to be part of such an organized and professional school.
& Congrats to everyone who got in! Your life will soon change in such a positive way :)

Thanks for the encouragement, and congrats on beginning your first semester! Any advice or suggestions?

Hi! When I did mine, its a physical and physical functional abilities test. I didnt have my yearly physical yet at the time COC was due, so I just took whatever papers COC posts on BB and got it all done. You can ask specific questions at the orientation as I am not sure if anything has changed from a year ago. They lay everything out clearly.
Hi guys -
I just want to wish you all the best of luck in the spring, I know you all are going to do great because you've made it this far, and you all seem so nice and helpful - I'm sure you'll all pull through together!
However, I am turning down my spot at COC and have accepted my spot at Moorpark due to not only the fact that Moorpark is a ten minute commute versus an hour, but the pass rates are also greater at Moorpark's program so I have to do what looks better for me in the end.
I'm so glad I've gotten the chance to go through this all with you though, best of luck in all your endeavors

I dont know if you were thinking about applying for the bridge program that COC offers. I don't think that Moorpark offers it. I know that it is very hard to get accepted to the bridge program to get your BSN in 3 years but it would be a good option. You have a very good GPA

It was a consideration of mine, which is why I had applied to COC originally - but I also know Moorpark works with CSU-CI, not in the same way that COC does with CSUN, but in that most transfers go there. CSU-CI has two bridge programs available: RN - BSN, for those who take the NCLEX before transferring into it, and a 14 month ADN - BSN program for those who apply their last semester of their ADN program without being a licensed RN (http://nursing.csuci.edu/programs/moorpark-college-road-map.pdf), which is what I would like to do, essentially getting my BSN in 3 years and 2 months.
I've talked to the nursing counselor before at CSUCI too as well as heard from the Moorpark counselor, and they said the ADN-BSN program is not impacted like many other programs, such as the generic BSN program, which is why I had applied to Moorpark as well.
Also given that I have to work part-time too while in a nursing program so I can still afford my apartment, car, other bills etc., Moorpark works better for me in that it's 10 minutes from my apartment/work and is 3 days a week, and not 5 days a week like COC is, on top of the hour commute ]:
Sounds like you are making the vest decision! Just to clarify, COC is only 5 days a week for the first 8 weeks. Then drops to 4 for the rest of the 8 week semester. 2nd and 3rd semester are 3 days/week (this includes one 12 hour) and then 4th semester is one day lecture and one day clinical. Just want to let everyone know so you didnt think it was 5 days a week all the time.
