College of the Canyons Spring 2016

U.S.A. California

Hi everyone!

This might be a little too early for a thread like this, but I submitted my online application for the spring at COC and I'm so anxious yet excited!

Anyone else here already go ahead and do that? What's everyone's stats who's applying?

I have been studying for the TEAS since May, and it feels so real now that my application is in!

lets get this thread going :)

Science gpa 3.0

Overall gpa 3.0

Teas 62.5

Applying for the Lvn-Rn program

4 years experience in the medical field

I just submitted my application yesterday and now waiting for the next email with instructions.

I took the teas at LACC in April and since they were behind on calling people to invite them to take the teas, I got my call 2 days before they scheduled my teas test date. I crammed as much as I could, but I'm not too proud of my score.

Anyhow, I got accepted into LACCs generic Fall 2015 program (even though I applied for their Lvn-Rn program) but I declined. I really did not want to spend an extra year learning everything I already know. I hope COC offers the bridge program this year, but if not, I would consider their generic program. Why? COC is my home school and I love it! I also live 10mins away so I wouldn't have to worry abt gas and traffic for the next 2 years. I also applied to Pierce and GCC.

I think we are getting our next emails by like the first or second week of September - I know that there's a tiny calender on the website that says that. I'm so anxious.

But it sounds like you have a lot of experience which will be good for those points :)

Im scheduled to take my TEAS on September 9th, but I'm doing it at a test center in Illinois at my old college because the dates offered by COC and Moorpark (the other school I applied too) all interferes with my work schedule and I figured I would just take it on my vacation back home, haha.

Best of luck to you though!!

i submitted my application two days ago. Hoping for the best since i only applied to COC this semester.

i have a 4.0 core biology GPA and i 3.8 General GPA

i have not yet taken the teas test but preparing for it.

Wish everyone the best of lucks. We all need it.

I called the nursing department yesterday and I was told that their selection process is via a points system. I was also shocked that they are not offering the lvn-rn bridge program due to funding issues. I'll be happy just to get in at this point.

With regards to the Teas, study hard. I'm sure you guys will do well. I asked if I can retake it because I did not like my score, but I was told that I could not. Your first score is your score forever, not unless a new version of the teas comes out. I wish I didn't rush into it! So it's good you guys are studying now. It's really not a hard exam, it's just a review of everything you should already know. I would suggest to practice getting through each section without running out of time. I remember the actual teas being A LOT easier than the practice exams. My issue was running out of time midway through EACH section so I'd literally end up guessing on most of the questions. I needed more practice.

So learn from my mistake...Good luck to you guys!

The whole idea of your "first score being your forever score" is definitely so intimidating. I had to schedule to take my TEAS earlier, because the COC testing date interfered with my work and current semester school schedule. So I will be taking it on the 9th, and I have a mini heart attack whenever I think about it.

The ATI manual I am currently using definitely has some hard science questions which I'm constantly reviewing. I just want to get this all done and over with, and hopefully score high enough to add up my points.

I have a 4.0 in the science pre - reqs but my overall isn't too hot, at a 3.0 because I had some downfall with upper level chem courses >:[

So I'm relying heavily on the TEAS.

I applied for the Generic entrance ADN. I have a 3.33 in core Biology, 3.2 Overall I have and AA and I got a 74.7% on my TEAS. Hopefully I can get a spot.

I took the online practice test and i only got 75%. i was very surprised because i usually did better on reading than the other sections. i did better than in science which i thought was going to be my highest score. This is the online practice test.

I took the ATI practice test online yesterday and got a 70. Which is annoying because I was scoring WAY higher in the practice tests from inside the manual. From a few of the forums that I've seen on here, however, nearly everyone has said they scored ridiculously low on the practice exams while scoring way better the day of the actual test. I'm taking mine this Wednesday (I have to early in case because none of the test dates from COC or Moorpark work with my schedule). I'm freaking out.

let us know how it goes on the the real test. I hope you do great.

Thank you!

I took another practice one today, and got an 85% overall. Now I only hope to do this tomorrow morning.

I'm having a mini panic attack because in 12 hours I will be taking it! >_>

Do we know when we are actually supposed to be getting the invitation to take the TEAS?

On the website it says we are supposed to get an email between the 15th and the 22nd and the actual teas test date is the 2nd of Oct.
