I can't believe that on top of the $500 plus course, $175 text books, I have to pay to have my test and final exam proctored and have to go out and buy a web cam! I really wish this would have been passed on to me as I would have not even enrolled in UTA. I suck at math and was not looking to spend this awful amount of money to hopefully pass Algebra. I'm hoping the video lectures show me step by step how to work out the problems or I am in trouble. Might have to transfer to Texas Tech, they don't even require Algebra.
So am I understanding correctly that this course with these requirements is the only one? Or, can you swap it for another course that doesn't have proctored exams and the web cam? Just wondering if anyone has swapped to a better College Algebra (MATH 1302) at UTA? I plan to take MATH 1302 at the beginning of the year.
Thanks.
Hello,
So did anyone stay in and pass this class? I am biting the bullet and I start on Jan 20th, 2014. Looks like there are two choices of books: My Math Lab and the UTA College Algebra Package. Does anyone know which one we need? Math makes me nervous and I want to make sure I start on the right track.
Thanks for any advice regarding this online class.
Started it yesterday, dropped it today. If you are not already really strong in math then this will be a HUGE amount of difficult work to do in a short time. Just wasn't physically possible to do in an 8 week time frame due to the learning curve and sheer volume, so I cut my losses. Oh well. Next time I'll be ready. This is why I saved Algebra for last. Congrats Shantel on Clepping out.
I am in this class now I am seriously considering dropping the class and just cutting my losses. I spent so much time this week on homework and still don't fully understand any of it. I would rather drop the class and take it a community college than risk dropping my gpa. I hope to get in the MSN program when I complete the BSN

I dropped it and I am taking it locally. The amount of time that is needed for homework is just crazy... you would have to do nothing but the course to manage.
