CNA's graduating in March-April!

Hi!

Great thread idea! My CNA class doesn't start until March 2nd so I have a few weeks to prepare myself. They say that February is the shortest month, but this year I don't think that'll be true! :)

I've been a stay at home mom for about 6 years or so-I'm 25-and this is my first out of the house job in looooong time! I'm very excited and very nervouse!

I'm looking forward to talking to people who will be going through the same things I am. I'm sure I'll need the support!

Oh - and that video was cute!

YouTube has been my best friend lately. I've been watching videos on how to take pulse, respirations, BP, etc. Ive never seen that video though!

the title of the video should be icu nursing, not cna nursing.

did you notice/hear

time :58 - keith states he is a graduate from pacificunioncollege.

time :2:25 - blood work, prescription order sheets. paperwork that i do not see or do.

time :2:55 - i have never examined a patient.

time 4:52 - i would be fired/terminated on the spot if i ever told a patient's family (or friend) the condition of the patient.

:typing I will make the necessary corrections and post a new video :rolleyes: Thank you for taking notice of the error in the title of the video. Although I'm sure you meant well, your post, some of which was typed in bold, and huge lettering comes off as being very self righteous.

Congrats on being a CNA for two decades, how has that experience been for you so far?

I have started class already, and it is one of the best moves I have made in a long time. One word of advice when you all start classes is to network and talk, talk, talk. Last night I found out one of my classmates is already a secretary in one of the hospitals I want to work for. She had me call her this morning at work and speak to the necessary people to help me get a job there after graduation :redbeathe:redbeathe

I'm registered now for a CNA course...It starts Feb. 23rd. I'm so excited! I'm 22 and have an AA in general education but its time for me to start a career and get out into the field... My plan is CNA--->LPN---->RN... :) I'm excited and nervous at the same time...My father is the CEO of a retirement resort down here (just a fancy name for a really upscale nursing home lol) and a lot of my family are in the medical field in some manner... this is just something I know I want to do...and I have done much research, have 2 mentors, and am very passionate about what I put my mind to...I am sure that you all are the same way! I love that someone thought of this thread...I think it will be a good place to come and vent, celebrate, and discuss the process... believe...i'm sure you guys will be seeing a lot of me haha... Good luck to you all..even though you probably won't need it

Hi!! My CNA class started yesterday & so far I'm really enjoying it Its 4 weeks long, everday 8-2:30. I'm 19, taking a semester off from school in order to take this class b/c I wanted to get experience. My ultimate goal is to go to nursing school.

My goal is CNA-LPN-RN too!

The only medical-related family I have is my grandma, who is an LPN. I remember as a kid her telling patient stories. Everyone else seemed to be bored but politely listening where I was enthralled and wondering "Oh my gosh, what happened next?!"

I thought of this the other day and realized that I have wanted to be a nurse since I was little.

That is so wonderful that your grandma used to come home telling stories. Somehow, I feel like I'm going to be the same way! Only, my little bro and sis are going to be eating up every story I tell (hopefully, lol). Today, as I was leaving for my CNA class my brother said "I thought you said you were going to practice occupied bed with me!" lol. :heartbeat He is 9.

Well tonights class went really well. We finally got our new teacher. She is a gem. You could tell that as a Nurse in the ER for 27 years she was very experienced, knowledgable, and more importantly loves CNAS and places alot of value on our future jobs. That was very refreshing to see after having to deal with a lady who only wanted to teach what was going to be on the BOARDS for a week. Our new teacher is a much better fit. She gives real life scenerios, statistics (updated), and uses the projector for powerpoints and movies

Downside? I now have 8 chapters to read :clown:

I will do this with pleasure. Tomorrow we are going to do occupied beds, and heart rates, then go over PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).

Anyone from New York?

How cute that he wants to play! Awesome for you too to have someone to practice with. He must really look up to you. Realize it or not, because you are choosing to continue your education it's likely he will choose to also. Wouldn't it be awesome if he-or your sister-went into the medical field too!

I'm happy that you have a good teacher. It can make a huge difference, can't it! Sounds like tomorrow is an important day! How exciting!

What things do you take with you to class? Like supplies, I mean. Pen & paper, etc. Just wondering what I can pick up. I'm so anxious to get started!
