CNA salary for Long Island - NY area

Published

Hi! Can anyone help me out with salary info for a cna in the Long Island area? I'm currently working on my pre-reqs for nursing school and I'll also be :confused:starting a cna course this September. As we all know, tuition is expensive and I'm excited about starting part-time work as a cna. I've gotten a lot of conflicting info about salary -- particularly hourly salary for cna's. Can anyone advise? Thanks!

I'm not a CNA, but I know depending on the facility some start at $12, night shift can be $15. A lot of cna at my job work a lot of double shifts. good luck hope that helped.

many thanks for the info and for taking the time to reply to my question. Lots of luck to you at your job!

Did you have experience b4 getting job offer at chsli? i know good sam requires 2yrs of experience but the others dont . i am curious b/c i am a new cna and currently job searching

I'd like to know that too - whether you need experience to get hired at most places these days. I just got my CNA license and am working for an agency doing home visits, and I'm considering relocating to New York. Yes, I am planning on continuing my education to be an RN, so I can earn an actual living wage.

What does chs stand for?, google isnt giving me much

Its the Catholic Health Services.

The advisor at boxes told me CNAs make around 15 an hour. Salary.com says 27k-32k a year. That's for long island.

In Huntington where I did the clinicals they start you at $15.

It really ranges between $12 up to $20; varies from LTC to Hospitals.

I worked as CNA in Long Beach and made 14/hr other LTCs in the area make as high as 18-20/hr through agency staffing. Wherever you decide to work, I'm almost positive there will be alot of overtime to request....meaning time and a half ;) Hopes this helps. PM me if you have any questions. Good luck
