As taught, I religiously wash my hands going in and coming out of residents rooms. Also when changing gloves.

I didn't mind going to sleep with wrinkled fingers, but this morning I awoke with them!

I am a newbie, so would love to hear what those with more experience do. Please tell me brand names that are the best as I will only be washing my hands more often.

What is worst, the soap in the dispensers or the hand spitzers?

Thanks!

:uhoh21:eucerin lotion - it is the best hands down!! :wink2: I have a small tube with me at work because my hands get really dry also

Just tonight, I purchased some Purell Moisture Therapy Hand Sanitizer, kills 99.9% of germs. Feels good so far. I'm hoping it works. My lotion favorite is Curel, mmmm.

Our hospital does not let us use any other lotions, besides what they provide for us. They say, that some lotions can damage the gloves.

Hi. Can we avoid gloves?? I have very sensitive hands to begin with and the gloves will most likely really irritate my hands. Can I just use the Purell hand sanitizer?? Are there gloves besides the plastic ones??

THANKS A MIL!! Epona :icon_roll

powdered gloves are evil!

slather moisturizer on your hands at bedtime.

No, you can not avoid gloves. They are a part of standard precautions. Gloves come in Latex and Non-latex/vinyl.

For me, the alcohol gel is a Godsend. The gloves may be the bigger culprit, like they were for me. Powder and latex are evil. And our nurses' station could slap on price tags and be open for business TONIGHT with all the lotions we have there. Alas, none of them will bring my soft supple skin back...the price we pay...

HI.

I have the same trouble, and I am scared to death what they will be like in winter. I use St Ives, Swiss Vanilla. It has a light scent. Though we also have lotion in the staff bathrooms, and our Sub/Station (supply room) has a dispenser of lotion. I would say as often as you can use a bit, because each little bit will help. I also have a Burt Bee's hand kit, that includes gloves. When my hands are EXTREMELY bad I can put this thick paste type lotion on, slip on the gloves and let the moisturizing begin. :)

I personally like the new Johnson's shea & cocoa butter baby lotion. Nice clean scent without all the purfume smell.

We wear and change gloves during Q2 rounds on my 11-7 shift. When my hands get to the crack and hurt stage, I slather up with lotion, cram a pair of size sm gloves on, and then use a size med over the smalls for the rounds, changing only the top medium pair each person. By the end of changing 20 - 25 people, the hands are as smooth as a baby's behind. LOL

When you wash your hands, NEVER forget to wash your wrists too. I have had a NASTY rash on my wrists from my contaminated gloves pulling my gloves off at the wrist. Live and learn... :balloons:

Although I'm new here I do have a tidbit to pass along....

At night, or while sleeping, slather regular Vaseline on your hands after washing thoroughly in very warm water and slip on some warm gloves or an old pair or socks. By morning, super soft!

This works great on feet and heels too!!!

Its a brand new hand wash but Dove deep moisture hand wash is awesome!!! its feels like it leaves my hands softer than before i washed them, i LOVE it!:D

I put stuff in a green can called "bag balm' on my hands. I got it at tractor supply. It works well for diaper rash too- but I havent had diaper rash in a while so I cannot personally testify to that use.
