  1. did you ever find out about clovis adult school? im looking for any info. Thanks
  2. Huffy, Have you heard that you are for sure in the Jan start program? I have been doing the whole application process and writing my entrance essay but have been told we will not find out if we are in until December? As for the origional question, In my personal oppinion Maric is a good way to go for your RN. I know it gets a bad rep but really once you are in the program everything is all packaged up and ready to go for you. I tried to go the community college route and felt all alone and stressed if I was going to get into certain classes and everything, but at maric once they say your in they sign you up for all your classes all of your books are taken care of. Its just a more secure "packaged" deal from my point of view. But yes it is expensive :) I got my cna liscence with maric, and now will hopefully be starting in Jan for the RN.
  3. Hey what hospital? Fresno is my hometown and i am currently in San Diego, but i might be interested in moving back! and how hard did she say it was to get hired in OB?
  4. i do not know the answer as im still in clinicals, but this is exactly the question that has been weighing on my mind lately too! any answers would be appreciated!
  5. Its a brand new hand wash but Dove deep moisture hand wash is awesome!!! its feels like it leaves my hands softer than before i washed them, i LOVE it!
  6. Lucie is my admissions adviser and has returned all my emails phone calls and and when i took the trip to sd to test she was great and very straight forward with me! she told me about how i needed prior med experiance and i asked her her honest oppinion on me taking the cna course at my comm college or if i had a better chance of getting in if i took their cna course? she lowered her voice and said if it were me i would probly take the cna course back home if you didnt want to relocate right away. SHE WAS COMPLETLY HONEST and didnt seem like she was selling me anything. my parents have decided to send me down their for the cna course anyways because they want to see if i can hack it living on my own before i commit myself to the two year program. ( me living in san diego next to alot of my friends who go to college down there= i will def be able to hack it;) ) so sometimes the whole front office experiance isnt all that bad, dont let it discourage you. What i also like about the school is the facility is really nice compared to my city college...but i guess i should expect that since im paying all that money
  7. I am only a pre nursing student, but living in clovis my whole life i can give some insight: i would like to 2nd and 3rd what everyone is saying about either live in clovis or north of herndon, even if the house looks nice, dont chnce it by living anywhere else. Also someone talked about st agnes? i agree especially if you are interested in cardiology since they just built the new cardiology wing which supposidly kicks a$$....or clovis community or valley childrens, it just depends on what you are interested in. University med center gets alot of trauma, but in the worst part of town, i have visited a few times and am always scared( the first time i went there and was down in the lobby area waiting to find out if a friend had died, a man kept harassing me saying he knew me and would follow me when i walked away, secuirity had to be called) anyways, i love clovis and feel safe anytime of night. The police dept. is the best, the town is so quiet that if you call them for the most minor thing, they will have at LEAST 2 units there within 2 min
  8. hey jim i was wondering how maric is going for you right now? im really considering going there, the only thing holding me back is the price of living down there and relocating. I am lucky enough to be young and my parents are still supporting me as long as im a full time student but i just feel a little guilty making them pay rent for a place down there. But im 90 percent sure i will end up going there Cori
  9. i absolutly hate chemistry, i am in it right now i am hoping anat is alot easier, based on the fact that i love biology sorry i had to rant:rolleyes:
  10. I def agree with you. Although I am only 19, i attend mostly night classes at a cc. I think i am the youngest one in my chem class! but i like it alot better, everyone in night classes are working or parents and it is alot better, especially when you have lab partners who are more serious! if i wanted to feel like i was back in highschool i would attend the earlier classes
  11. hey guys just wanted to see how many of you want to end up in the NICU and why you are choosing that road. From my personal experiance, i was on a high school feild trip and it was to Valley Childrens Hospital which is in central california and has one of the best NICU's in the state. So we got to that floor and i immediatly felt a difference than in the other floors. It seemed mor calming and dim , and there is a nurse who talked to us and one girl in my class(didnt care for her) said kind of sarcasticly "how could you work here, it is so depressing" and the nurse smiled and said "When you get a baby who ends up in here who cannot breath on its own, and then one day you get to see it eat and breath on its own, it is one of the most rewarding experiances." so ya ever since then i have decided i am going to end up there one day =) p.s. i have a feeling working with babies might be easier in the sense that they wont complain and try to tell you how to do your job:p
  12. oh i am not looking forward to this class....But also keep in mind there are teachers out there who will try and scare out the less serious students by going on and on about how hard the class is. Good luck!
  13. Ok I have just Grad High school, and i thought I would be so happy and not stressed out now that finals are over....but ofcourse now i find myself stressing about nursing school. My problem is that The community college here has "one of the largest nursing programs in california" so they have a lottery system and it can take up to 5 years for you to be picked...So i am freaking out thinking "i am going to be taking all of these pre reqs which will probably take me at least a year and 1/2 and then am going to wait and wait to get in? so now i am really thinking about doing the lvn to rn program which isnt as bad of a wait and doesnt require as many pre reqs. ANY ADICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED With love, Stressed Out High School Grad
  14. i am planning on doing the adn program at fresno city college, i know im in for a long haul of work and am worried about the chemistry part, but i know i can do it. Was your nursing program hard for you? And for the 6 months experiance part, what department do you normally do that in?
  15. Hi! im new to this site but have fallen in love with it already. I am about to graduate from highschool and plan on attending nursing school to become a RN. What i was wondering was how and how long did it take for all you wonderfull NICU nurses to get to where you are? What school did you go to what sort of classes and how long? I am new so i dont know if this topic has been brought up or not, but i just wanted to hear your stories and your experiances. Thanks, Cori
