CNA Jobs $15-18 possible?

Published

I have heard agencies pay better than other jobs for cna/pct. I am scheduled to graduate with a CNA/HHA/ PCT (Patient care tech) certification in July. Is it possible to make $15-18 and get 40 hours? I need to make $15 to make my bills. Any advice/tips/leads? Thanks so much!

I know that in my area agency pays more, but they generally want at least one year experience. Also hospitals pay more than LTC, the hospitals in my area pay around 12-18, but again they want a years experience first. Most new CNA make around $9.50 to $10, but then there are the shift definentials.

Good luck to you

About 7-9 an hour in this area.

Private duty sought by clients themselves in newspaper ads. They will usually require English speaking skills, own car, experience, and references. The ones that advertise these good rates normally might mention heavy lifting in their ads. Good luck.

Here in my area, the major hospital chain has a program that once you finish your first semester of nursing school (RN) they hire you as a PCT, but at $8.50 an hour to start. After each semester that you pass successfully you are given a $2.00 an hour raise until you graduate.

Here you do make more money at the agencies, but like the other posts they want at least one year exp.

Hope that's helpful.

I work at the VA in Gainesville FL. I know many CNA's that make well over $13 some make $15-$17 plus. I know this to be factual not heresay. Honestly they pay CNA's more than they pay LPN's. I am an LPN, all of the CNA's on my floor make $1to $5 dollars more than me.

when I was an agency nurse aide, I was paid $10-11.00 an hour, then when I worked in a hospital, I started at $10.35 an hour, not including the shift differential. After working as an aide for 8 years, my last rate was $14.97.

I have worked for an agency as a CNA, and the most I made was $13.00 an hour. This was overnight on the weekend. During the week it was $10.00.

I know agencies that paid 15-18, but they were the first to be cancelled.

Here in SC for a nursing assistant with experience it looks like $8.78. I didn't see any positions for a na with no experience.

I'm working full-time as a CNA for an agency until I take the NCLEX. When I do 12 hour shifts, it ends up averaging out to $15, and nights are straight time and 1/2. You do have to have a year of experience (or a year's worth of nursing school clinicals). There is always enough work.

Some agencies are better than others. Ask around for recommendations.

I can't imagine how the hospital justifies this. This is crazy.
