Michigan CNA State Exam Site Question
Hi I took a CNA class and I am awaiting to take my skills & written test. I am wondering if anyone has any advice or tips. What skills are most commonly tested? I am especially interested to find out if there is a "best" site. Does one site have a reputation from being very particular/difficult? Does one have a reputation for being more linient? Also, do most facilities have fitted sheets for the bed making? Some of my location choices are: Crockett (Detroit) 4 Chaplains Nursing Center (Westland) Health Career Academy (Port Huron) Thompson Center (Warren) Washtenaw CC (Ann Arbor) Thanks in advance for any help/info :)

Help! How Hard & How Many Hours?
Hi. I'm considering going to nursing school. I am scared to death after reading the posts about needing to forget that I have any sort of life outside of nursing school. I have two girls ages 9 and 12. I dont have custody of them but I am afraid that if i go into school that I wont have any time at all to spend with them after school or on weekends for 3 or so years ( going to CC for an ADN and getting prereq). Is this really the case? Realisticly, how much time should I count on banking for going to class and studying? In this senerio I wouldn't be working. My job would be school. I am an average student. Am I talking 60hrs a week or am I talking 80-90? I know that no one can give me an exact answer, but if it is 60 or less I would think I would still have time to see my kids and be a part of their lives. I want to better myself and be able to provide a better life for my family but I'm not sure i'm willing to go forward if it means that I will be forced to be completely absenst from my childrens lives. Is it realistic that I might be able to count on studing or going to class between the hours of say 8am-6/7pm m-f and have a good amount of time on weekends to see the girls? Any insight anyone could provide would be exteremly helpful. Thanks so much!!

Prospective Nursing Student with Career Questions
I’m considering taking a buyout package to go back to school to be a nurse. I have some questions and hoping that I can get some feedback. 1. Salary. I make about 58k a year now with no possibility of overtime. In Michigan, how much can I realistically expect to make as an LPN, & RN? What is the average starting salary? 2. Overtime. Can I expect have overtime hours/ pay available if I want/need to make extra money? 3. Schooling. How much of an impact will the school that I get my degree have on my employability? Basically, I’m trying to decide if I will really be making any sort of financial gains by switching to a nursing career. If I will be able to make more $$ then I am willing to put in all the hard work for the education. I'm afraid that after all of the hard work and sacrifice that I will end up making the same amount of money or less than I currently make and I don’t want to make a lateral move. Any insight that you can be provide would be very helpful. Thank you. [email protected]
