Had a kid bring his wet, bloody tooth and plop it right on my desk.

C'mon now!

Or the kid that did running knee slide into my office.

C'mon now!

The ones old enough to cover their mouths but choose to cough right in your face instead.

All together: C'mon now!!

Some things just make me shake my head.

I just had a MS boy ask me for reading material before he used my bathroom to poop.

I. Can't. Even.

And yes, he has a pass.

OMG! I now have to do "bathroom checks" after every student uses my bathroom. The shenanigans that happen in there, at the middle school level, blow me away! Especially when the bathroom is just a matter of a few feet from my desk UGGGGHHHHH! I cant even...

I constantly get a complaint like, "my stomach is hurting," or "my head is hurting," etc..

When I ask how long this issue has been going on they'll say, "since math" or "it started when I was leaving recess" as if I have every student schedule memorized and I know what time of day they have math class or when they went to recess. I always get a little exasperated at this point & cut them off saying, "child, I have no idea when you had your math lesson. I need a rough estimate of when that was!"

I actually DO have recess/lunch memorized (I'm elementary) so I usually ask, "before lunch or after lunch?" but my littler ones always insist on, "when teacher was reading us the story" or "when we were getting our yellow folders" and I know they can't help it but it's also usually a long story of "weellll when we sat down on the carpet, then this, then that, then after that is when it started hurting":wtf::rolleyes:

Does anyone else get a lot of "omg, I didn't see him there and he bumped into my elbow, he says he's ok but can you please just check him??? thank you!!!" I think it's kind of sweet though also "how fragile do you think they are?" I guess they probably worry that the child will go home and tell their parent what happened in an unfavorable way. ("My teacher's arm hit/smashed/hurt my head")

I'm at a private school overseen by a larger private school company, and we were flagged last year for "too many accidents" aka recording every minor head bump. We told the teachers to only send kids if they have a headache, a bruise/bump, or are acting funny. We still get teachers bringing little ones in, big smile on the kid's face "Oh Johnny bumped his head on a stuffed animal in the preschool room, and I know head bumps can be serious." I barely let them in the door.

Very interesting!!! My school would be flagged on the first day of school if we had that kind of management. I get a lot of "I'm ok but they said I had to come here"

(AND a lot of "she's ok but she said she had to come here")

I've been working with a kinder to get him to pee in the potty instead of a pull-up. The bathroom caused an immense fear. This kid would hold it all day when admin told him he couldn't wear pull-ups, to the point of tears from urgency pain. (Don't even get me started on the absolute bs it is that admin thought they could even make that call)

Anywho, I've been working with him every hour for the last two weeks. And today... He peed in the potty. Oh my lanta. I was so freaking happy. This kid got so many rewards for that.

I tell one of the admins, expecting them to show a little excitement... With the straightest face, most monotone voice "Glad he peed in the potty." Guys. I'm over these people. OVER THEM. You expect me to get excited when a kids MAP scores go up one point (and I do) but you can't get excited for this?? C'mon now.

I was told this morning that a book bag had shown up in the hall and they were trying to figure out who's it was, they (admin) open it and see pull-ups and say "Only at (school name)" with an eye roll. No. Not only at our school. Many schools have kids who come to school in pull-ups. The difference is they don't have micromanagers in charge who want to control every aspect and in turn end up bullying and traumatizing a kid by denying him the right to use a pull-up. Please explain how having him pee in his pants (which is what would happen when he finally couldn't hold it anymore) is any different than a pull-up.

Ugh. Sorry. My feathers were really ruffled over this and I am over the moon happy that he peed in the potty today.

Me too!! That is awesome and for that kid I'm guessing way more of an achievement than the classwork he likely completing this week.

I hope his parents were/are excited right with you. Meh to Admin.
