Had a kid bring his wet, bloody tooth and plop it right on my desk.
C'mon now!
Or the kid that did running knee slide into my office.
C'mon now!
The ones old enough to cover their mouths but choose to cough right in your face instead.
All together: C'mon now!!
Some things just make me shake my head.
My C'mon now for today comes from my side gig, but I thought of this thread when I saw it. I am the supervising RN of an assisted living facility. I was faxing the pharmacy recommendations to the docs when I saw one that recommended starting a patient on a new medication because it was noted that their cholesterol was a little elevated on their last labs. The paper asks for an answer to the recommendation and then a reason if they disagree. The fax came back with " NO. Pt is 101 years old ". You go doc. No one better worry about my cholesterol when I'm 101!

On the elementary level we stop all outside activity for the day when the heat index reaches 100. The heat index is already 91 today - 8:45 am.

Yuck!! My daughter told me she didn't want to go to Church tonight because when they play outside they have no water and she gets really thirsty. I told her I would pack her a water.
I had two parents mad at me today:
1) I accidentlly sent the wrong email to the wrong coach for a student who can't do any physical activity for 2 weeks. I apologized
2) I had this student, two red eyes, but one is WAY more red. He said it was burning, and itchy and had green gunk come out. I called mother, she's sick but someone will come get him. I got a call from grandmother, yelling at me that he is always had allergies and pink eye and he is fine. He can't miss anymore school and she has his eye drops that will clear them up all the time. She explained that they don't understand why this is always happening to him and the doctors can't explain it and that he can't miss any more school. We talked it out a bit and at the end, I did apologize and I asked the grandmother that she needs to explain that to the doctor and if he really needs this medication for his eyes, to ask the doctor to write a note that says he needs it in school for me to give him. She said yes she will and came to pick up the student.
I know that these parents probably still complained about me even after apologizing.
C'mon now!

1.) Eh, it happens, what I do is make a copy of the note saying they can't participate and give it to the coach/teacher.
2.) What are you apologizing for? Did THEY let you know about his allergies always acting up and needing eye drops? No, okay then, they should be apologizing to you. You saw a red eye with drainage, you did what you felt was best. If this is truly allergies then the doctor should have no problem writing you a note saying so. If it's not and grandma is stretching the truth, then good call.
Both of these things are minor.
I forgot to go cath a kid at another school the other day. THAT needed apologizing. THAT was a mistake. Mom was mad at first, but texted me afterwards (I had to call her from my cell as school was already out) to thank me for letting her know. The two things you listed, especially #2, no biggie, don't sweat it.

OH I know it wasn't my fault. It's not in his file that he has allergies, but I still apologize so they can be appeased. You know how parents are... they have to be 100% right.
I'm a very kind person, but I can bite back and tell you how it is if I don't like something. I do say something, but I say it in the nicest way, so it won't sound like I'm being horribly savage and accidentally burn everyone in my path. I try to channel Snow White as my personality when I'm at work. Trust me, if I had my normal attitude at work, I would have SOOO many parent complaints... and my co-workers would hate me. xD
Student comes in reporting nausea and just looks unwell. I call home, Mom comes in to "check him out". Sits down and tries to tell him he doesn't look bad at all and needs to go back to class. Kid throws up in the middle of my office.
Mom says it's motion sickness from the car ride to school and acts like its a *huge* inconvenience that I'm still sending him home.
C'mon now

I had a mom get mad because I needed her child's inhaler prior to a field trip.
Her words "Her asthma is not that bad."
Okay, but if something were to happen, EMS will have to be called.
"Oh, they will call me before it gets to that point!"
Well, a nurse is not going on the field trip and the teachers aren't really trained to asses a child and children can worsen quickly.
Needless to say, I got the inhaler...Orders say "Give everyday prior to outdoor play or PE" for the kid with "not that bad" asthma.
UGH.
