Had a kid bring his wet, bloody tooth and plop it right on my desk.

C'mon now!

Or the kid that did running knee slide into my office.

C'mon now!

The ones old enough to cover their mouths but choose to cough right in your face instead.

All together: C'mon now!!

Some things just make me shake my head.

I have learned this week several of our admin do not know what a school nurse does and believe the ones on our district do not do enough, so they are assigning one of our new nurses a class!

I am appalled and floored!!!

Surely it's just the puberty discussion right? I can not...I just... It's a hard no from me.

And so, how many times are they going to interrupt your class to apply a band-aid and to stop a nosebleed??????????? Ridiculous!!!

I think the convo would go like this:

Admin: You are going to teach a class

Me: You mean like teaching hand washing, right?

A: No, you are being assigned a class to teach.

Me: You mean like one afternoon I'm going to talk to 2nd grade about the importance of fruits and veggies, right?

A: No. You will be teaching. For the rest of the year.

Me: (grabs post-it and starts writing) Here's my resignation. I'll clear my desk and leave the keys with you. You are going to enter and verify imms and give meds and check sugars and give insulin and administer meds.

*stands up and walks out*

I've crawled under my desk whilst laughing/wheezing.....

After having almost a full week of missed lunches last week, I've decided that another course of action is necessary for me. I leave the building at my lunch time. I live close, so i can just go home for lunch, but if i didn't and this was still what was happening, then i'd be eating in my car. I still get texts from secretaries and my principal during my lunch, but them knowing that i am out of the building and me texting back logical instructions like "tell the child who is here complaining again about his headache that i'll see him next period."

I even made mention at my last union meeting to get some guidance as to why me office isn't getting lunch coverage if it's that big of a deal for me to be gone for 45 min. I had one teacher that was trying to plead her case to me why i shouldn't leave. She didn't have much to say when i reminded her that i am entitled to take a lunch.

Saturday afternoon, at my boarding school weekend job, a girl came in stating that she sneezed and got a bloody nose and blood came out of her eyes. Her face was completely clean, AND she had waited over an hour to come the health center.

A) It was blood splatter from your sneeze, not from your eyes

B) literally the only things that could possibly cause that would be rare genetic conditions that would have been discovered long before now or Ebola.

I should have told her she had ebola.
