City of Hope New Grad 2020

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hi everyone,

Just started a thread for those who applied to the City of Hope New GRAD App that opened up in April and is for the August 2020 cohort. I submitted my application but never even go a receiving confirmation email. Anyone else have that problem?

Hi phone screen went well however, my BSN won’t be completed in time. I thought maybe they would make an exception based on experience/work history etc but they don’t so recruiter basically said to try again next year.
Best of luck to you all!

Has anyone moved onto the interview portion with the unit managers?

A friend of mine who had a phone screen last week said she was told that the recruiter would reach out by the end of this week if you are selected for an interview. Did you get the same info?

Hello everyone! I've been a bit late in giving an update for those asking. So I originally had my phone screen interview on May 1st and was asked my availability for the following week to set up a video interview with the managers for the peds hem-onc. I gave my schedule but didn't hear anything back for a week. I then got an email from Leila asking my availability again for the following two weeks. Another week passed by and another recruiter named Gabriela gave me 5 options of days to choose from for a video interview. I sent out my preferred day and it took another 7 days to get a response (received it today) confirming the set interview. So now I for sure have a video interview with 3 managers from the peds hem-onc set for May 26th. I would definitely recommend in just being patient in them replying to you since it definitely took some time in setting up the second interview.

hi there! I'm also interested in peds heme-onc; wondering if you did your practicum in this or what sort of experience you bring? I didn't do a peds onc or oncology practicum ?

I did do my preceptorship at the City of Hope peds hem-onc! Unfortunately it was cut short due to covid though

I know they started to interviewing for various units. Just curious if anyone moved onto the next round of interviews and received an offer. I was looking back to previous cohorts and it seems like people were given offers immediately after their interview. Curious to know if its still the same or if they'll release all the offers at once.

How did your interview go?

for anyone who has gotten offers, what unit is it on?

also, does anyone know the pay rate for new grads at COH? including differential? how does it compare to other hospitals nearby?

I’ve interviewed w/ the managers via video for the unit I am interested in! It went well but I believe I was the first to interview for that unit so they told me they would reach out to me by middle of June ?. I believe if they are considering you you would have been contacted by now for a video interview with management

If you don't mind me asking, what department did you interview for?
