City of Hope New Grad 2020

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hi everyone,

Just started a thread for those who applied to the City of Hope New GRAD App that opened up in April and is for the August 2020 cohort. I submitted my application but never even go a receiving confirmation email. Anyone else have that problem?

How did your interview go?

I think it went really well! It was about 30 minutes long and had similar questions to the phone interview, just more specific questions about my resume and why I chose that unit. Thy told me they were still interviewing for the unit until the end of this week and would get back to me at the end of the week.

ICU. Did you interview as well? If so what unit

Hi! Anything specific that you think made you stand out to get an interview? Did you have your clinical rotations at COH? Do you have your RN license already? I thought my phone screen went well but didn't get a follow up ?

Mine too! OK that makes me feel better I’m like mine was so much easier then the HR interview I felt like they just kinda wanted to get to know me better (obviously) but the zoom call was a little funky since it was there first time so that’s the only thing that kinda bummed me out. Also they told me I’d hear something by mid June the latest

I’ve worked as a CNA in multiple units including oncology at a major hospital, and I currently work in the ER. In addition I have my ACLS, BLS, PALS, and critical care certificate& no I don’t have my RN licensee yet. How about you?

WOW!, thats awesome! I work in the ER and have those certificates. No license yet. I'm also from Northern CA. Not sure if that affected anything. Good luck to you!

Hello! Does anyone know how many times per year they have a new grad program? And when those applications open as well as when the program begins for each cohort?? Thank you!!

Has anyone moved onto the interview portion with the unit managers?

Hello! I had a video interview 5/21 with hematology manager and assistant manager. She said I would hear back in a week or two. Haven't heard anything yet

I got the job (for Peds Hem-Onc)!? It took a little longer than expected to hear back, a little over a week (I just got the call on Wednesday). I'm so excited to join the team and can't wait to hear back on who else is joining City of Hope. I believe there is still one other person that's going to be hired for peds hem-onc too.

Has anyone heard anything from the hematology/bmt unit for adults?
