City of Hope - New Grad August 2013

Published

Hey everyone! Has anyone applied to the City of Hope New Graduate program? I applied a few days ago and will post on here if I hear anything. Best of luck to those that applied!

Some girl I know got it and scheduled sometime next week. What makes you think its unpaid? That would probably be illegal.

Actually, I know a couple of new grad programs where you don't get paid or you pay to be a part of the program. If you acknowledge that this is going to happen, I don't think it's illegal.

Anyhow, I was just making sure :-)

This isn't a new grad program though - this is just like a super user position. I know a couple people personally at other hospitals who worked as a superuser educating staff and got paid and then eventually got an RN position.

So you're saying they're going to train us, the new grad applicants who didn't get into the October cohort, on the EHR system and then we're going to spend 2.5 months training other nurses?

Yep thats what UCLA and Providence is doing - and a couple hospitals out in LA where my friends got jobs.

Really? Wow, that's wild

Thanks! CaliRN13 are you interviewing for the position as well? when are you interviewing? I didn't get a confirmed time slot yet.

I replied to the email yesterday saying I can interview this afternoon, but I have yet to receive any sort of confirmation. I'm preparing as if I have an interview today, but if they send me something last minute there's no way I'll be able to get there in time! Unless they give me two hours for my commute..

I was in the same position, so I called this morning. The recruiter said they are going through the emails... and trying to figure out the hiring managers to interview with. She said we may need to interview Friday.

Ok cool, thanks for sharing the info!

Did any of you guys get a confirmation email of when you're interview will be? I was one of the candidates that received the "CIS temporary position offer" but in my confirmation email stated that Ill be interviewing for the "Clinical Nurse I - BSN New Grad Prog Oct 2013".. Feedback anyone? I'm hoping I just really get an interview for the New Grad Prog instead of the CIS! either one would be great though.

I'm still waiting to hear back with a date and time. :( The confirmation email was probably a copy & paste error. I'm pretty sure they've already selected all the candidates for the Oct '13 New Grad Program.

And has anyone noticed the annoying spam comments that started popping up? There's no option to report them. :\

I reported one from the app on my phone but it didn't send! Also, I received an email regarding a 20 minute phone screen this afternoon, and if it goes well THEN an in person interview Friday. Anyone else?
