City of Hope - New Grad August 2013

U.S.A. California

Published

Hey everyone! Has anyone applied to the City of Hope New Graduate program? I applied a few days ago and will post on here if I hear anything. Best of luck to those that applied!

Around what time did you receive the message about the Go live CIS position? I received mine around 7pm. Please post once you hear back and scheduled your interview with the recruiter. I wonder how mamany people received this message and how many positions will be filled. Good luck to us!

I received the rejection email but never got the invite for the CIS? Is it on the same email as the rejection email?

I did not get a specific rejection for the residency program but got the invite for the CIS temporary position interview instead. From the email, it seems like they already filled up their new grad positions though.

For those that got the CIS email, did your status ever change or did you get an interview for the new grad position? Or did you just apply and they sent you that other email

I guess I am flat out rejected. By any chance did you have oncology experience?

I did, I precepted in a medsurg/oncology unit. If anything, this whole new grad market is really teaching all of us patience. This will be my first interview for California since graduating in December 2012. I hope it all works out and trust that it will for all of us!! no matter what hospital and however long it takes to land our first full-time jobs.

RNtin, I guess that email also serves as my rejection email for their residency program. I saw your post about providence for the same CIS type position. Congratulations to you!! At least you're already offered the job, I'm still hoping to get one :)

@stephiem: My status changed to In Process a few weeks ago but I never got a call for an interview. It seems they made their final decisions today. Applicants got a rejection email, an invite to interview for the CIS roll out, or no email at all (one of my friends never got an email & she thinks it's because she applied later in the game).

@RNTin: I don't mean to jump in to answer your question, but I thought I'd provide some info about my app as well. I have very limited oncology experience. My preceptorship was in a medical-surgical unit that also served as the oncology floor. It seemed like all they did was provide chemo, but I made sure to emphasize some experience in oncology anyway. lol.

@FaithfulAlways, im sorry to hear that! I was hoping if you could give me some insight on how your interviews were conducted and by who, as I am scheduled to interview for the first time. Also, those of you who got the CIS email that's great because that means you have your foot in the door for the next cohort, and from what I've been told several more positions will be open then as they are adding another section to the hospital. Also, I know COH is switching over to electronic charting sometime in October.

Hey fellow nurses! Did anyone receive a call back from ------------------- for an interview for the CIS position? I'm pretty nervous.

I haven't but my friend got a call this afternoon. I'm waiting til tomorrow and if I still don't hear back from her, I'll send her another email.

Does anyone know how many hours a week will the temporary position be and how much is the hourly salary? I am from northern California and I need to consider if I can even afford rent if I end up interviewing and getting an offer. Thanks!!

I just recieved an email to confirm the interview for the CIS position. I do not know the pay of the position, but most of these types of positions that I have seen in other hospitals are fulltime.
