christmas card exchange 2008

Published

i haven't seen the post for this years christ mas card exchange. i know it is early but christmas will be here before we know it. chris at lucas usually does this and i emailed her in hoping to get this started. i know this should be in the breakroom but a lot of members including myselfare noot premium members and also like to participate. i really love all the cards i get from you guys, my kids love looking at all the different places they come from. any ways hoping to get some interested parties so we can get this started.

i just got in touch with chris and this is what you need to do if you want to participate. i really love this time of year and it really sets you in the mood for the holidays.to reiterate from seasons past.... any allnurses member can participate in the allnurses christmas card mailing list, even if they are not a premium member. just pm or email me (i prefer email, actually) the following information: remember you do not need to send a card to every one on the list, just send what you can afford with postage today.

your allnurses name

your real name (so your postal carrier will know it is you)

your mailing address, including your zip or postal code

your email address so i can send you the list

then, later chris will start sending out the list by email. in the past i have sometimes remembered how to make it set up like labels, so if you are inclined, you can print it off that way. now, this is christmas, so you don't have to send a card to everyone, but it's kind of nice to do that. however, if you can't for some reason but really wish you could, go ahead and join us. with no exceptions that i know of, we'd all rather send you a card at a time that you particularly need one, than have you sitting this year out because you couldn't afford postage or whatever.

and it goes without saying, the information on this and any previous allnurses christmas card list is confidential, and not to be shared with anyone. if they are on the list, they got a copy. if they lost it, they can email me (i know who signs up!). if they aren't on the list, sorry, they don't get access to the info. it is all set up to protect all of us.....

some people only want to send and receive email greetings. i'd like to encourage the email greetings sector to use the allnurses email or pm functions to send those greetings, rather than the actual christmas card list.

so, let the merriment begin! (even if it is a little early..... )

maybe we can make this a stickie like last year, eh, mods?

Hi all,

Running as fast as I can, stopped long enough to put the grid together.

dvanswer, I don't have your email address, but you can provide it by PMing me or emailing me from this site....

Everybody else, it looks like I have all your info. I am so pleased that everyone is looking forward to this. I always do--my only regret this year is that I wasn't able to get it started sooner and more efficiently.

BTW, there is no deadline for signing up. Some of us are watching til the last minute to be able to send you a card. We know not everyone will send, but we do know that everyone appreciates receiving.

List will go out by email to the address you provided, within the hour.

Christine dvanswer doesn't have enough posts to use the PM function but you should be able to PM her with your contact details, she can read but not reply to PMs

Hi, all!

I just sent out an email to everyone for whom I had an email address (all but one, I think).

Two bounced.

If you didn't get your list just now, please email me and let me know. Your request could have gotten lost, I might have somehow skipped you, or there could be some cybersnafu.

Or you could be one of the two bounced ones.

Anyway, cheers to us all, and to everyone with whom we come in contact, peace. (And for us too.)

Does anyone know offhand what the postage is to Canada and the UK to send a card? I hate to stand in line at the postoffice if I don't have to....

TIA, Theresa

I always use the US postal service website, http://www.usps.com.

Try this:

http://pe.usps.com/text/Imm/immctry.htm

Scroll down to the country of interest.

Each country's page has all the info about shipping and mailing. Sometimes you have to scroll quite a ways down.

I think the rate might be 72 cents, but check to be sure.

Or, you can just take them to the post office, and they can tell you exactly, when you buy the stamp.

Hope this helps,

Christine

Chris,

Please add me to the list once again this year....none of my info has changed since last year, if you have any questions, let me know! Thanks!!!!!

OK, I think the list is now accurate and current.

I sent out the latest edition may be 30 minutes ago--if you don't have it, let me know and I'll make sure your info is current before I resend.

Also, there is still plenty of time! In years past, we have added people right up to the literal last minute. If you want to get into the action, please advise--there are no fees, dues, or requirements other than to be an allnurses member. And if you cannot send cards or can't send to all, please do not hesitate to join anyway. We are into holiday cheer and comfort--we love receiving, so we know how much that can make a difference, particularly for a holiday season that may, for whatever reason, be difficult.

Christine

Hello Christine,

I just want to say thank you for getting the names and addresses together for the christmas card exchange. I know you're probably working a full time job when others are busy studying for the NCLEX-RN. What a better way to spread christmas cheer than receiving christmas cards. I personally love to send so if others want to join that maybe they feel they cannot send to all, I hope they join. Again, thank you for creating the lists it's very much appreciated.:nuke:
