Hi fellow nurses! I am Sherry and I applied to the CHOC fellowship for multi specialty area recently & was just wondering if anyone else has applied for it too?
i graduated in May 2017 so technically I’m not considered a new grad, but I’ve never actually worked in an acute care as a RN, only outpatient. so technically I’m a stale new grad? it’s super difficult to make it in the hospital w/o acute care experience, so I decided to apply to the fellowship!
wondering if anyone is on the same boat?

It went well! They mostly asked behavioral type questions. Just really trying to get to know you. It lasted about 30 minutes. And the manager of the unit was there, and the day shift manager! But they all centered around the unit I was applying for. They were all very nice and very comforting. You’ll do great! Just stay confident

Congratulations!! You’re gonna do great. They already like you since you got an interview so just be yourself. To even be considered is just a huge accomplishment, I like to think haha. But thank you! I’ll be rooting for you!!
I did not get chosen for the fellowship position that I applied for and did not hear back from them about that position, but I was offered another position I had applied for on a unit in which I actually have some pediatric experience and I scooped it right up!! For reference, when offered the position, an HR rep called me and even after that point my status still said "under consideration" until I received the formal offer letter within the next week and accepted the job. My other open applications were automatically withdrawn. For those of you who are offered the positions you interview for, congratulations and welcome to CHOC! For those of you who do not receive invites, don't give up! I applied for MANY positions over 2 1/2 years here before even getting an interview and I am glad to FINALLY be home ☺️

Wow thank you for your words of encouragement! I hope I can make someone feel like home too!!!
