CHOC RN Residency/Fellowship Feb 2020

Published

Hi fellow nurses! I am Sherry and I applied to the CHOC fellowship for multi specialty area recently & was just wondering if anyone else has applied for it too?

i graduated in May 2017 so technically I’m not considered a new grad, but I’ve never actually worked in an acute care as a RN, only outpatient. so technically I’m a stale new grad? it’s super difficult to make it in the hospital w/o acute care experience, so I decided to apply to the fellowship!

wondering if anyone is on the same boat?

For those who got into the residency program, any advice for someone still in nursing school who wants to apply upon graduation? thank you

If CHOC is the hospital you want to end up working at you either have to know someone in management or you have to work there as a CNA prior to applying for their new grad residency, in that case, they will 100% interview you.

For those who were selected and started the Feb 2020 CHOC RN cohort, how is it going? I applied but wasn't selected and plan on applying again for August. Curious if anything will change as many new grad Summer programs are holding off. Seems CHOC will have theirs but wasn't sure if they planned to have in-person classes, if they'll hire the same number in the cohort, etc. Any information? Thanks everyone! ?
