Hi Nurses :)

Heres the Link: http://www.chla.org/site/c.ipINKTOAJsG/b.3929777/k.E91E/Nursing_Career_Opportunities.htm#.UT6aKo7fRdQ

Applications opened today so best of luck to all who apply!

Hi everyone I am new to this group! I wanted to ask if there are any out of town people applying to this residency program? I am in Chicago now and graduated in December 2012! I applied for the ED as my first choice. I wish the best of luck and same to the new grad you have to take NCLEX still! I studied KAPLAN for 3 weeks solid and it made me so confident! I walked out of the test feeling awesome!

Welcome yes there are a couple of us out of Towner's on here, I am in Georgia :) good luck to you. As most of us on here I am praying for the phone call/ interview. I still have to graduate and take the NCLEX, so I have been drilling myself to the bone trying to get it all done. I heard very good things about KAPLAN thanks for the tip. :)

Kaplan is amazing so far. My class is about to go through a 4 day intensive study work camp for Kaplan. Im worried Ill be bombarded with too much information at once, but so far the program hasn't failed me. :)

Welcome to the group kdawsonRN! I'm a local Californian but there's a few here from out of town and state. Dee1267, I'm sure you will do wonderfully with the NCLEX :)

Ocennia, I can't imagine being in that position :/ in a way I'd say go with what you have in front of you which is UNC, especially with how difficult it is for us new grads, but at the same time it sounds like you have a lot here in LA. Perhaps you can accept the offer and wait and see if you hear from CHLA? Or maybe it would be good to work there for a year or so and come back and know that you'll be able to get a job. It's definitely a tough choice, but just look at all the pros and cons, weigh them out and see what you like.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to join this thread so I get updates on everyones application status. I applied to 6 west at first choice and 6 east as second. Anyone else apply to good old med surg?

welcome Ischofield44 to the group. I precepted in medsurg, however i went with PICU as my first choice.

@kdawsonRN I went to school out of state at the University of Utah but moved here in September for my husband's grad school.

I know we are all saying this, but the wait really is killer. Last cohort I heard back about six weeks after the application deadline, and then heard about the second interview about a week after that. I think the units I applied for were among the last to interview, and I was literally the very last interviewee... so hopefully it all progresses a little bit more quickly for everyone.

Aaaaannddd... hopefully this time I get hired. :)

Thanks for all the welcomes! My advice with Kaplan is listen to the four day class to hear how to work the system. They talk about TRAINERS (start off with simple knowledge questions then get longer and more application and analysis). I saved these and took on each week up until the week before my test date. I took the last Trainer, which is 265 questions for the week before my exam. For example, if you test date is scheduled for Monday April 22, plan to take it Monday April 15 and I treated the day as if I was taking the actual test. Reserved a room in my school library and just focused! I did ALL the Qbank questions and retook all the questions I got wrong. I also watched all the content videos and wrote out the slides they said Kaplan wants you to know this. It is a lot, but you can't fail if you do EVERYTHING! I also did the Focused review questions, which were awesome bc they were a bit easier than Q bank, but the questions were sectioned off into body systems. If anyone has more questions about studying patterns feel free to email me [email protected]. I agree with everyone the waiting is HORRIBLE! I babysit and I am worried I will be putting the kids down for naps and they will call me :(

I'm going with Hurst simply because they came to school and did a good job selling :)

I think any class will help. I'm a terrible test taker so hopefully this will help me do well!

When I took it I just went through the Kaplan book twice and went through a big book of test questions (it was over 1,000 pages long). I also did all the ATI practice tutorials and tests, if you guys used those in school. I ended up passing in 75 questions so it was pretty effective for me just to do TONS of questions!

Anyone know how many packets they received and how many they are taking for interview/for the cohort??

Hi Everyone. I'm new to this CHLA 2013 forum. Seeing this definitely eases my worried little heart. I went to an interview on Thursday (for a different hospital) and met another interviewee outside. He explained to me that he had already had a few interviews INCLUDING CHLA last Thursday (4/4). My heart literally shattered when he said that. I thought for SURE that meant they already began the interview process and I just wasn't picked... :(

My application status on the website says it's still being reviewed. Maybe calls will start coming in sooner than later! good luck to everyone. :)

PS: I applied for NICU as my number 1 choice with PICU as my 2nd.
