Children's Health Dallas July 2020 Nurse Residency

Here's a new thread for anyone who applied for the July 2020 Acute or Critical Care Nurse Residencies at Children's Health Dallas, we can keep each other updated! The application closes today (1/16)! I applied for both tracks!

@rebeccaUTA CONGRATS!!! I’m a little worried about whether or not we will take NCLEX on time. I heard they closed down testing centers until May 1st! It makes me worried that we won’t start on time :(((

Considering how much we will be needed, I have a feeling they will figure something out. People are getting really creative right now. I definitely don’t see our jobs being in jeopardy. The board may end up working something out with the hospitals so they can supervise us testing at their testing facilities maybe? Gosh though who knows right now. The hospitals have a vested interest in our competency level so they would be a reliable proctor if it had to come to that. It will be interesting to see what they do though. Crazy times, for sure.

When did you plan to take it? I wasn't going to take mine until probably the second week of June.

Second week of June as well, but with so many schools graduating at the same time & others graduating before us who had their test cancelled, it makes me worry. I’m probably overthinking??

The testing centers are still open! I finished my program in March but just got my ATT this week. I was able to set my appointment for the first week of May. There were dates available earlier than that but I've been a little slack on my studying. I ended up setting my appointment for Waco since I wanted a specific date but I just checked and there are appointments available in mid-June throughout DFW. If you want a certain date, I'm almost certain you'll be able to find an appointment time within a 2-3 hour window but otherwise there are currently lots of appointments available in Dallas and Fort Worth. I was fortunate enough to graduate during the off season so I'm not sure how available dates will look for you guys. I'm sure they won't let too much time lapse without testing graduate nurses, though. It will work out!

The only thing I have received is the SkillSurvey link to send to my references. I have completed that, and all 5 of my references have submitted the form. I don't know if this is what you are referring too?

Maybe it’s the link to the onboarding stuff? Like the drug screen info, background check, employment history check (and they do check and the dates and everything have to match), tax stuff. I haven’t received anything, but when I started here as a PCT, that’s what I got after my reference form was all filled out.

How long did it take for your ATT? I’m just curious because for some reason our instructor thinks the BON is closed right now, but their site says otherwise.
