***Chemistry - Fall 2005***

Who else is taking Chemisrty this semester? I thought maybe we can check in with each other, and help each other out.

If there is enough of us maybe we can even get a sticky.

I am taking Health Science Chemistry 1.

what is up with these teachers giving us a 4th exam and a comprehensive final?? just not right!!

The teacher got too behind on his lectures because he likes to go off subject a lot so we have to pay for it.

We have 5 tests then we have a comprehensive final. I think it is way too many tests. In my class right now our teacher had to take over another class, so we have a brand new teacher for the rest of the semester! Over half way through the semester!! The worst part is she doesn't teach chemistry, she teaches Biology. She is using the tests from the previous teacher, so she is teaching to the test. She doesn't even know how to work the problems herself. I had to take a test on Monday and I find out today how I did. I am not sure about it. I think I did well but I have thought that before and got a D. Wish me luck I will need it.

Good luck Shannon!! We still haven't gotten our tests back that we took last Friday. He said someone didn't take the test so he isn't going to hand if out yet. He said one person made a 32 on it! Makes me really nervous!

Once again I got a D on the test. I still have a C for the class but if I keep getting thses damn D's I am not going to pass this class :crying2:

i am horrible at ionic equations, both net and total. any help on this question would be much appreciated!

*when a solution of sodium carbonate is added to a solution of silver nitrate, a precipitate forms.

1. write the total ionic equation

2. write the net ionic equation

3. identify the driving force

4. identify the spectator ions.

huh, i am so lost! i know that na2co3 is sodium carbonate and silver nitrate is agno3.

any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys! :flowersfo

a solution of sodium chloride is mixed with a solution of silver nitrate. write the net ionic reaction. (hint: silver chloride is the resulting solid)

nacl(aq) + agno3(aq) --> nano3(aq) + agcl(s)

wouldn't this be the total?? -->>na+ + cl- + ag+ + no3- ---> na+ + no3- + agcl(s)

and this would be the net? ag+ + cl- ---> agcl(s)

not sure about the driving force. we have never gone over that.

the spectator ions are ions that are common on both sides.

hope that helps some. if not let me know and i'll try to explain it better. not sure if it is right though either. lol

With extra points, I have over a 100 going into my final, but the fact that it's comprehensive and 100 questions is scaring the bejeezus out of me..:eek:

I have my 4th test on Wednesday and than my final is on Monday the 12th. Our final is that ACS test so not sure really what to expect but he will do a review on Friday and than that is it!! I am so ready for this semester to finish!!

I'm not familiar with the ACS test, but googled it just now. Did they give you a study guide or any hints on what to expect?
