***Chemistry - Fall 2005***

Published

Who else is taking Chemisrty this semester? I thought maybe we can check in with each other, and help each other out.

If there is enough of us maybe we can even get a sticky.

I am taking Health Science Chemistry 1.

Congrats Prissy!!

Grades was just posted and I got an "A"!!! I am so happy. That was such a hard class.

HELLLPPPP!! :crying2: :crying2:

I am an adult student who left the corporate world to become a nurse. It is taking forever for me to get through the prereqs!

I have just failed Chemistry! I took it last semester and withdrew mid-semester with a W. This time I got a D! It is a prereq before I can take A&P. Math and Chem is soo hard for me. I studied very hard, but obviously not hard enough. I feel like giving up. :imbar :scrying: The thought of doing this yet again is agonizing. ANy advice out there? Thanks.

Sorry to hear you are having a hard time with Chemistry. It is a very hard class. Did you have study groups? Did you go to tutoring? I had to withdraw from my Spanish because all of my time was being taken up by Chemistry. I studied all of the time and what helped me was being in a study group. Math is not my good subject either. Good luck!

Study groups can be an excellent way to work on hard concepts, if you just can't seem to understand it on your own. For me though, study groups slowed me down. What I ended up doing was working problems over and over. For each exam preparation, I would write all the formulas I was going to be tested on, on one sheet. It kept everything in one location. I also seemed to notice patterns with some of the formulas just by having them altogether. If you have a full-time schedule, you may want to go part-time while taking chemistry. I know I'm probably not being very helpful. Chemistry is just a pain in the @ss and the only way to succeed in it is to spend a lot of time on it. If you can understand the concepts, it'll get you a lot further than just memorizing. Where there is a will, there is a way!Good luck!

Oh, one other thing...if there is more than one chem instructor at your school, ask around and see who everyone recommends. You may even check to see if student evaluations are available for you to read. An instructor that has high marks from previous students, will go a long way in your success in chemistry. I'm not saying it'll be easier, but some instructors are just more talented in explaining difficult concepts than others.

I took Chem 1A a few semesters ago. I had an awesome, incredibly dorky teacher. My lab partner set our lab sheet on fire. Good times.

Hi, this is your moderator speaking:

Can I "unsticky" this thread or is anyone still using it? Do you want to start a Spring semester one?

Unsticking it would be fine with me. :) Fall 2005 semester is over with now. :)
