Who else is taking Chemisrty this semester? I thought maybe we can check in with each other, and help each other out.
If there is enough of us maybe we can even get a sticky.
I am taking Health Science Chemistry 1.
is anyone having problems with limiting reactants. for some reason i just can't grasp it! i have exam tomorrow and just feel lost!
i have to admit, i didn't do so hot on that. i'm like in a total daze. it's not really as overwhelming as i thought, i'm just not enjoying this class very much. i'd never want to be a chemist!
get to the tutoring center, if you can! let someone else explain it in a different way!!!!
goooooood luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you can do it!
Thanks fun2care. I should try to go to the tutoring center. Just no time. Work Full Time! Arggh. Chemistry is not fun! This is going to be my worst test. :angryfire Good thing we get to drop our lowest grade. I WILL NOT be sharing this grade on the board! :chuckle
Good Luck all!
Ditto on my last...We'll get our grade back tomorrow! I wish we got to drop our lowest grade. My micro instructor did that.
I know I am a little late on this post, but I had to poke my head in and say hello!
I am taking Chemistry this fall and I am totally lost. I already took my first test and got a D. It is the lowest test grade I have gotten since starting college. I am so bummed. The biggest problem I am having is understanding all the math. Math has always been my biggest weakness. I know to be a nurse I have to be exceptional at math and I know I have to learn this but I am so lost. My professor says that I should just keep doing my best and take it again if I have to. I am thinking I might just have to plan to take this again next semester. I can't believe I am failing this class, but somehow I feel so stupid in this class. I tried to get a tutor to help but the school can't find a tutor to help me.
What I don't know is if I should just drop it now or take the D or F.
Thanks for listening

I would at least wait until the very last drop date. That way, more information will be familiar when you take it again.
However, you have only taken one test. Is there anyway you could buddy up with someone in your class? I'm sure there is someone that can help you. Hey, you can always bribe them with $5 to help you for an hour. (ok, cheap labor) lol
Good luck!! If there is anything specific we can help you with on here, just post it. :)
Don't give up!! I would wait till the last min. to drop if you want so you can still have all of the information given to you which you could put to use later if you decide to retake the class. Chemistry is really hard. I learn a lot from the other classmates and online because I have a terrible teacher. Good luck!!

Going over handout the teacher gave us last class and we are learning about:
the mole
atomic, formula, and molecular mass
percent composition; emperical and molecular formulas
the chemical equation
types of reactions
reduction-oxidation reactions
energy and chemical reactions
stoichiometric calculations
limiting reactant and percent yields
and I am starting to get lost. There are tons of calculations on this. The teacher started on the mole and said a few things on it and expected us to do calculations right away and couldn't believe that we were all lost and kept saying "how do you not know?" and pretended that it was just all easy and we should know how to do this right away. Our lecture is only an hour long and he just started this. Maybe it is me, but how would we know how to do this after a few min. of talking about it??? Just very frustrating. I am so ready for this semester to be over with.
i have some notes on this and reading over it, it is a little confusing. probably be more confuse once our teacher explains it. just talks about limiting reactant and excess reactant like if you have available ingradients like 4 slices of bread, 1 jar of peanut butter and 1/2 jar of jelly the limiting reactant would be the bread and the excess reactants would be the peanut butter and jelly. there are more notes but i am getting confuse. lol good luck with your exam!!!

Thank you so much!! I did finally get the answer to the one with Fe with more searching on the internet and figuring out that Fe was the only one that can be 2+ and 3+. The double and triple bond one, I just didn't know. Thanks again!!
