Hi Everyone,

I am considering the DNP program online. I have my MSN. What is the cheapest accredited DNP online?

Thanks !

Specializes in NICU, ICU, PICU, Academia.

University of Southern Indiana (University of Southern Indiana | USI | Bachelor and Master Degrees) was the least expensive I found- and they charge the same for in- and out of state tuition.

The real question would be Is the cheapest DNP the best quality education?

Specializes in Education and oncology.

I didn't see that USI has a DNP program. I've looked into online, hybrid and 100% campus DNP programs and the average cost is about 950/1,000.00 per credit hour. Liberty University in Lynchburg VA is mostly online with a week's requirement to be on campus each semester- it's in the 950/credit hour range. I've decided to attend Regis College in Weston MA as it's available weekends on campus for nurses who work full time. Good luck with your search!

Thanks for the feedback Everyone:)

The University of South Alabama also charges in state tuition for their online DNP program.

USI has a DNP- it's just that their website ummmmmmm.......sucks! My director just graduated from it!

University of Alabama has a 100% online DNP for post-masters students that is $354 per credit. It was the least expensive I found from a reputable school. They charge in-state tuition for online programs. Actually, I think all of the Alabama universities do this (UAH, UAB, USA, etc).

Be careful - you may be getting just what you pay for.

Quote bolding is MY doing.

And that is a risk no matter how much money you pay. If someone is concerned about the quality of their education I would urge them to investigate the actual experience of the program directors and instructors. Sadly I know of a world renowned teaching hospital with an excellent reputation with many lecturers who have barely practiced if ever as a NP.

Specializes in Brain Illnesses.

When it comes to the DNP programs, quality doesn't really matter. I mean, really, there's no "there" there, with the DNP. How much better can one school's "And Yet Another Nursing Theory Class or Four" be than another school's? Or the policy class? Or management classes - would those not be best taken in the school of management rather than in nursing, which is known for the worst management of all professions?

Quality doesn't matter. Dnp doesn't add value. It's about meeting requirements for a job, or about ego, or whatever - we know that, because there is nothing in the curriculum that adds value or knowledge or would improve patient outcomes.

So really, the question to ask is: which is the cheapest? Or, which is the quickest?
