Charity School of Nursing (SON) Fall 2015

Published

Is there anyone else applying to Charity SON for Fall of 2015 (RN)? LOL, everything is so quiet. I thought I'd go ahead and start a thread so we can give help and support. Good luck, everyone!

Kristy you should definitely get in then.

whit_504 I'm not completely sure but maybe like a 55. My first time applying I had no clue what I was doing and it was really rushed! I had just finished A&P I, I took the hesi a couple of days before the application deadline, it was all just a mess!!

Well you definitely brought your score up. This wait is so horrible. Trying not to focus on it but it is hard.

I hope I do. But you just never know lol. We'll see in a month or so

hey, keylimesqueez, thanks for the info! I have also applied to both and have my interview with LSU coming up soon. So nervous! Could you tell us a bit more about why you chose Charity over LSU? I really want to go to Charity but I'm just worried about quickly landing a job after graduating, with all the scary talk about ASNs being less desirable.

I had several reasons for choosing charity. A big factor was the flexibility in scheduling. Since I have a toddler that was crucial for me. I also talked to HR people and recent charity grads in the area regarding employment opportunities. Charity grads have excellent reputations and currently our market is not saturated so ADNs are still being hired. The caveat is that you let them know that you intend to enroll in a BSN bridge asap. I also wanted to jump right into clinicals. LSUs program has no clinical component the first semester whereas you start skills lab in week 2 and real clinicals in week 4 of the charity program. Also, I did the math - charity is affordable and even including tuition for a BSN bridge program it still comes out less expensive than LSUs program. My thought process was if I go to charity I will most likely be working in 2 years. If by some reason I am not, I am still rolling straight into the BSN bridge program which can be finished in less than 1 year so I will still have the BSN in 3 years as if I went to LSU.

Another applicant here. I was going to apply for entrance in the spring. My reasoning is that at the end of this semester I will have completed all of my prerequisite courses and A&PII. All I got to do is finish this semester and get the 15 points that I don't have now. I feel my application score is on the low side but I applied anyway because what the heck. I have told myself not to worry because sooner or later I know I will get in. Now that March is almost here I am getting a little anxious. Last semester the cutoff score was 60. I am wondering when they are going to figure the cut off so we can get a clue.

I also have applied for Spring 2015. I have a low profile score of 60 because I haven't completed A&P II yet or Micro, but I am currently in those classes. I got an 83 on my HESI and have a nursing GPA of 3.4. I'm not too hopeful on getting in this go around because of such a low score, but after I get my additional 15 points and bring up my HESI score I feel confident to get in.

Has anyone called to see if they at least figured out the cutoff score?

I was told they would not give out that information, because it would let people know if they were accepted or not without actually getting a letter from the school

Last time I heard a few different people say they called and everybody they talked to told them a different profile score.

Well this waiting has me all worried. I really pray they send out the letters sooner than the end of March. I have heard of ppl getting in with a 65, but it will be just my luck it's not good enough this time.

When I went in for advising after not getting accepted she told me that the cut off for spring was usually lower than the cut off for fall because more people apply in the fall. The cut off last spring was 65.
