Charity School of Nursing (SON) Fall 2015

U.S.A. Louisiana

Is there anyone else applying to Charity SON for Fall of 2015 (RN)? LOL, everything is so quiet. I thought I'd go ahead and start a thread so we can give help and support. Good luck, everyone!

Hello guys, I have question. Ok , I was in a Lpn program prior to applying to the RN program. And I see that they are asking transfer nursing students to submit a letter of good standings. Does that letter apply to me? Even though it was an LPN program would I still need that letter for a RN program. I don't know, and I can't get anyone on the phone at delgado, and I didn't want to drive all the way there just to ask that question. PLEASE HELP

I don't know the answer to your question, but if you call 504-568-2670 they can tell you. They always pick up, so I would just keep trying to call. If they don't pick up the first time, call right back, sometimes they are just on the other line with someone. If you're trying to transfer any nursing classes (ie Pharm), then I would imagine you would probably have to have a letter of good standing from whatever nursing school you went to for your LPN program.

A lot of hospitals seem to be pushing towards the bsn, but I think it will take them more than a few years to be able completely look over asn applicants! I have a few friends who graduated from charity that work at ochsner, which is one of the hospitals I know off the top of my head that want to make the change towards all nurses having their BSN. Also, I am teching at the Westbank campus and a large number of the RNs are Charity grads! Hope this helps!

Specializes in NICU, Trauma, Oncology.

I actually spoke with HR departments at many local hospitals prior to accepting my charity acceptance (and decline a few BSN programs). They are all still actively hiring ASNs. Don't let their job postings fool you. Also since I've started at charity I have talked to several graduates who walked into "dream positions" in many specialties including CCus, ICUs, PACU and even same day surgery! Do not be discouraged, especially if you plan to stay in LA. Even if you move, as long as you state you are planning to get BSN you are fine. Most places that want it only require it within 5 years.
