  1. Congrats on passing NCLEX! I will be taking in a few short weeks () I'm also a new grad in the neuro ICU, so definitely following this post. I have already started my orientation (which makes my nerves for nclex even worse!), so far I have found it to be very interesting, but does feel a bit overwhelming- can't tell if thats just new grad nurse nerves or because of the floor I'm on! I'm interested to see the responses you receive. Thanks for posting!
  2. A lot of hospitals seem to be pushing towards the bsn, but I think it will take them more than a few years to be able completely look over asn applicants! I have a few friends who graduated from charity that work at ochsner, which is one of the hospitals I know off the top of my head that want to make the change towards all nurses having their BSN. Also, I am teching at the Westbank campus and a large number of the RNs are Charity grads! Hope this helps!
  3. I agree with everyone else, most definitely check with your program to see the policies on clinical absences, etc. you might also check about deferring your acceptance? I know this is something the program I am in allows, but only for one semester. It is most definitely doable, like others have said a strong support system is necessary- it's definitely what got me through my second semester (had her two weeks after I finished first semester)! Just being completely honest, it was a lot easier when she was a newborn then now that she is a toddler! They require a lot of attention, but if you have the motivation and determination (she is mine) then you can get through it! I am starting my last semester in August it's been rough, but I don't think I would change it for anything. So, all of that just to say it's not unreasonable! It's definitely a lot to consider and think about, but being a mommy and a nurse are two of the most rewarding things!
  4. I have it on my iPad and it doesn't take up too much space, but I only downloaded the books we needed on my iPad and I have all the books downloaded on my computer. Hope this helps!
  5. Hi, and congrats to everyone who got in for the Fall 2014! If anyone needs a blood pressure cuff (I barely used mine in level 1) I have one I'm am trying to give away. It is brand new! Please direct message me if any new or current nursing students are interested!! thanks!

  7. @ab87 I also had trouble finding you. I think I added the old profile. Anyone else going to the Thursday session from 3-5 ?
  8. Got my letter today....IM IN!! Look forward To meeting all of you! I'm on the Westbank-definitely open to carpooling. And now I'm wondering what I've just gotten myself into!!!! Congrats and good luck to those who haven't received their letters yet !
  9. @jay thank you for that information! I am currently working full time and was wondering how I could work out my schedule. It looks like I might have to go down to part time! I do have another question, I've heard that acceptance letters comes in large envelopes and rejection in a small envelope. I have been freaking out ever since!! I don't want to make anyone else nervous, but do you know if there is any truth to that?? Thanks !
  10. I'm in marrero! Hoping to make acquaintances for carpools/study groups or whatever else if I get in for spring time. This is my first time-so the nerves are really bad! I have a profile score of 70 :/ I hope I make the cutoff. I have been stressing like crazy about cutoffs, gpa's, hesi scores, etc..lol but I guess if I dot make it I will have more time for improvement!
  11. Application time is here! How is everyone-- I'm nervous as all heck-- I'm trying to be patient but I feel like October is so far away! I'm driving everyone in my family nuts because its all I'm thinking/talking about! Where is everyone applying for spring 2014 from?
  12. I'm not really sure. I don't see why it should be any different since they state you can only take it twice in a lifetime! I wish I had the answer for you. I have also been calling the school with no luck--guess they were very busy with sending out fall acceptance letters. Who knows? Good luck though!
  13. I think that sounds like a plan! Good luck to you as well, it would be good to have friends and acquaintances before starting!
