Charity School of Nursing (SON) Fall 2015

U.S.A. Louisiana

Is there anyone else applying to Charity SON for Fall of 2015 (RN)? LOL, everything is so quiet. I thought I'd go ahead and start a thread so we can give help and support. Good luck, everyone!

Hey bvreeland you and I have basically the same scores for everything. My profile score is also 60. I am taking A&PII now with Micro210 and art. So I will add those 15 points at the end of this semester so that will put me at 75.My Hessi was an 83 so if I don't get in I will take it for the second time to see if I can bring it to at least 85 to get another 5 points there too so maybe next time I will have an 80.

When I went in for advising after not getting accepted she told me that the cut off for spring was usually lower than the cut off for fall because more people apply in the fall. The cut off last spring was 65.

Before I applied I talked to an advisor who told me that the cutoff last semester was 60. When I submited my application in January I asked the lady who went over my documents and she said that last semester the cutoff was 60. It looks like they don't know what they are talking about. I think this is making the process more confusing than it needs to be.Since they told you 65 and after seeing people who are complaining about miscalculating scores.I guess that I will not trust anything they say until I get a letter and see it for myself.

I talked to an advisor today, and she said we will get acceptance/denial letters mid March, not the end of March. She also said they have not come up with a set profile score yet, because they are still reviewing everyone's applications. So hopefully in about 2-3 weeks, we'll all know something

I really don't think the pointing system is a fair way to chose. You could have a 4.0 GPA but still get a 65 or so because of non completed classes.

I pray I get in but whatever will happen will happen and I'll try again next go round. This semester I will have completed all courses except Nursing courses so I will work on classes for my bachelors in the fall.

I also heard cutoff was 60 for last Spring.

I agree the point system is very unfair. I don't think losing points for withdrawals are fair. It's not a good way to show academic hardness. Things come up in life and we should not be penalized for that. Also the overall GPA is not fair. In all required courses I have an A or B but because of unrelated courses from many years ago I have a lower profile score.

I heard 60, 65 and 70. The 65 came from the woman who advised me. Who knows what's really right. I feel like they just throw a number out there

Well I know for sure a former classmate got accepted last fall with a 65

I know someone too that got accepted with a 65. I would have had a 65 if they didn't calculate my score wrong so I could have gotten in... So ******.

Mlobre yes that's horrible. They should be double checking scores. what's your score now?

I have a 70 now.

I don't understand why they won't accept a profile score sheet that we have filled out ourselves. I'd think it wouldn't hurt to have something to double check, but what do I know??? People make mistakes why not have some help? Good luck everyone!!!!
