Chamberlain College of Nursing - Addison

Anyone know anything about this place?

Im trying to apply for the July start - I currently have

a 2.3 gpa but I'm retaking two 5 credit hour classes. if I get B's in both classes I

assuming it would bring it up to at least a 2.6 which is still below the 2.75 admission requirement. i did however recieve a 90% on my HESI. has anyone ever gotten into the program with a similar gpa and high HESI score? I'm scared I'll have to take more classes over the summer and try again for the October start.

Any graduates out there??? How is the job market?

I'm considering applying at Chamberlain but the only thing holding me back it the cost. I know its comparable to other schools but I want to have some re-assurance that its worth the money. Any advice would be appreciated!

weinna, you should have found out if you got accepted into the july 2011 start by now. i applied on march 8 (a week before the deadline) for july 2011 and found out i got accepted on march 17th. you got a good score on the hesi, but i am not sure about the gpa. i know someone else who had a 2.5 gpa and the guidance counselor told her to take another semester at her community college so she can get it up to a 2.75, but i do not know what her hesi score was.

jessm215, my cousin graduated from chamberlain less than a year ago and she started working about 3 months after she graduated. she volunteered at the hospital for 2 years, so they told her as soon as she got her license in the mail she would get hired. if you volunteer or work somewhere you have a very good chance of getting hired.

I have a friend who graduated in OCT 2010 and she got a job right out of graduation and it was the position she wanted! This school is legit and the name is getting out because there are 2 chicagoland locations and they crank out graduates every semester.

Yes it is expensive but then again look at all the other nursing schools and compare prices they are all in 20,000 a yr range, even UIC is at almost 19,000 a yr right now! and you are getting a BSN which is what makes u more desired then someone with an ADN or LPN.

I finished a semester here already and had over 40 credit hrs transfer. Just like everyone else says, it maybe easy to get in but it is VERY HARD to get high grades. You will be reading 100's of pages a day and cramming so much info into ur head your going to want to cry. When clinicals start you will prob want to quit ur job or take a leave of absence because u will need ALL the time in the world to study.

It is a rigorious program and you have to be dedicated 100% like in all nursing schools. If you have trouble passing your classes in community college then maybe nursing is not for you because nursing school is a whole different ball park and different test wise. ALL your exams will be nursing application questions to get you ready for the NCLEX, and believe me they are not easy AT ALL!

they also say that u need to get a 76% or higher in all ur classes or u will get an "F" for that class and could be dropped out of the program if you are on probation

Thanks for the info!

Hey, Congrats! I'm super excited to, I just got in as well for the summer 2011 semester.

Hey, everyone!!! I'm lost.... Is there anybody, who took Human Physiology and Anatomy in Chamberlain??? These are the only classes I'm left with so far and thinking of taking them over there (in Fall 11) to save some time. Can you tell me the overload of just Human anatomy&Physiology classes? (I know that the overload itself in this program is high) I would really appreciate all the responses!!!!!!!!!

hi HemaMalini..congrats too! i have a question..how did you know that you got in at the chamberlain school at addison? did they call you or you called them? Because all they told me is that I passed the Hesi test..so Im not sure if I got in or not..Also, how long did it take for them to tell you that you were accepted?

thank you very much!!

Well I took my Hesi, and then after I found out I passed my HESI I waited about 2-3 weeks ( I think thats when the admission Committee reviews my application) and then I got a call from them to let me know that I got accepted. =) But as of right know I'm still kinda iffy on if I should go to the Addison campus or the Chicago campus, because I live right in the middle of both.

hey hemamalini..did they send you an acceptance letter or just a call from them? im gonna find out this monday. im scared. pray for me. coz i really want to get in at that school. so hopefully.

camaev, I know I'm not the person you're directing your question to but I thought I would just answer it since I noticed it :) . I got a call from them first - I think it was a week and a half after I took the Hesi and everything. They sent my acceptance letter about a week after that. If you got a good score on the Hesi and your GPA was at least a minimum of 2.75 then I bet you got accepted. I talked to my guidance counselor yesterday to ask him about my appointment for the drug test and all that other fun stuff and he said he has been making appointments and calling people to let them know they have been accepted all day. If you haven't heard anything don't freak out, it might be because they are so busy trying to get in touch with a bunch of people.
