Chamberlain College of Nursing - Addison

Anyone know anything about this place?

well with the IL MAP Grant gone now, the only form of financial aid you can get here is the Pell Grant. They do offer work study and a scholarship but your EFC needs to be at 0 to like 500 to even be considered for it. But if the IL MAP Grant does come back, this school will not receive it because it has not been an IL residential school for a certain number of years. Either way, aside from the upper class kids, about 85% of students are on some sort of loan program either thru the school, gov, or private loans.

My GPA is a 3.4 and I got an 86 on the Hesi. I'm worried about my exam score after reading this blog and sering how well others did. But I'm hoping for the best and I'll have to wait @ least 2 more weeks to get any news.

I posted on page 34 of this thread that I scored an 87% on the HESI and have a 3.3 GPA and was accepted for the Phoenix campus. You have a great chance of getting in with the numbers you have.

RCiantar, thanks for your info! I'm glad to hear that you got in with scores similar to mine:)

Aggiexpooh, thanks for the info on financial aid. It's good to know, that I will be taking out loans ahead of time.

Momof02, I didn't buy the HESI study guide, I took the NLN earlier this year and used the NLN study guide for the exam. And I opened the book the night before I took the exam. I think if you want to prepare fire the exam, the NLN study guide is a great book!

When do you find out if you got accepted or not? What campus are you looking at? I submitted my package and literally in a few days I found out via email I was accepted. I'm not sure if the timing was right on my part but I found out rather quickly. I went over the pricing a few days ago as well as my class schedule and map. Its like 23k a year, but lucky for me my GI Bill covers most of it, I'm still going to take out loans because only my wife works and we have a 4 year old and bills.

RCianter, I haven't heard anything regarding acceptance. I am applying to the Addison campus, and I've spoken to my advisor and he said that the admittance committee had been on break and would resume soon. So hopefully, it will be within the next week or two.

Hi RCiantar,

Did you advisor email you back about the acceptance or was it someone else from the scool? =)

I really want to apply here, but I know my gpa is borderline....has anyone ever heard of anyone NOT getting in??? I see so many acceptance posts on this thread, but I've never come across a rejection post...Anybody with any info on this??

Hi Luvs637,

I think that you should apply if you want to, My GPA wasn't as great either, but my advisor told me to write a letter explaining my low grades. I have also needed to file a petition with the admission comm. I'm still waiting for their decision though. From what I have heard, you can have a low GPA and received a high score on the HESI exam, this will improve your chances of getting excepted. Hope it helps. :)

I am planning on apply for the fall semester! My gpa is a 3.0 i haven't taken the HESI exam. Hopefully i will score well. As far as the Hesi exam goes, what kind of questions do they typically ask? And also, i am applying for the BSN program. i do have transfer credits. Would that make my chances of getting in better or would that have no effect at all? Sorry for all the questions. im super nervous but on a lighter note i am pretty excited to see if i can get in.

Don't be nervous. I knew people who had a 2.76 and got in. I scored a 92 on the HESI due to getting a high score in reading and math. I scored in the mid 70s in science. I'd get the book and study the science part the most. While it's not hard, it goes back to your basic biology, anatomy, chemistry that most of us tend to forget (in my case, at least). GOOD LUCK! :)

Thanks for the encouragement! i really need it! What book did you use? And also, how are u liking the program so far? =D
