Chamberlain College of Nursing - Addison

Anyone know anything about this place?

I thought the A2 was not too hard. I checked out the study guide from my local library and worked off of that. The study guide really breaks down 85% of whats on the test. The test is long but you can take breaks between sections.

If you havent had a&p then I would try to find a copy of the book and study that section. My admissions adviser told me if you havent had it, then that part of the test will not weigh as much in their decision.

I dont know anything about the scholarships. If you talk with the adviser I'm sure they can explain them to you. I haven't heard of anyone getting one but I also haven't asked. I'm taking out loans right now for the whole tuition and will have to for the next 2 years. So I know I'm going to have a ton of debt when I'm done.

Did you check out the official Hesi A2 study guide??

Hi, I'm currently a student at Chamberlain the one located in Addison that's part of DEVRY UNIVERSITY. I just want to let everyone know that the entrance exam is a breeze and all you really need to know is everything in the HESI ASSESSMENT book that they tell you to buy to review, but it's just basics. Like basic math, reading, writing, biology, chemistry. There won't be anything on physics though. I promise. I know it's in the HESI book and I'm tellin you to study everything in it, but do NOT study the physics part because It will not be on the entrance exam. I don't know about everyone else, but I did okay on the exam and then I had my score rounded up, I DON'T KNOW HOW. but it just happened that way. I don't know if it is because I was coming straight out from highschool or what... I have a class with older kids who have gone through 2-4 years of college already and this one girl I know said that none of her biology classes transferred to Chamberlain. So please, make sure if you're doing "gen eds" that you check and know that they will transfer because most likely if the numbers don't look similar or something, I REALLY DON'T KNOW, but most likely Chamberlain will make you retake or take gen ed classes. Depending... but yeaaah, that's just my input on the school. I'm just finishing my first semester, 8 more to go. WOOOOT!

I would like to know if any of you who got accepted and started the program feel like its worth the money? I have been researching Chamberlain and Resurrection University because they are accelerated and I have a 4 year old so I don't have any time to waste with waiting list. Any input would be helpful. I work at Little Company of Mary hospital and some of the students from Chamberlain in Addison did clinicals there, and they just didn't look like they were learning anything and the instructor wasn't hands on at all. I just want a great education.

I have been in the school since last october. I think it's worth it only because I'm young and I'm going into this program like straight into it. I think it's worth the money even though it's going to be a little expensive and what not, you will most likely be spending the same amount of money if you go through gen eds, and getting your associates in nursing and then trying to get on a waiting list to get into an RN program... I feel like I'm gettin a pretty good education at Chamberlain... so I don't know

Is there any one who has completed the program at Chamberlain? And how long did it actually take?

I would think it's totally up to you how long it takes with completing the program. some people transfer in with credits already and then go straight into the nursing program. With me... I have to do a year of gen eds and stuff, but I'm almost done with all my gen eds and I haven't even started 2nd semester yet... I will begin my actual nursing classes in the summer of 2011

so I would guess it is all up to you, and how many classes you take or can handle. and if you happen to fail or not...

Hi mcypyc,

Thanks for your reply. Maybe it was just that batch of students lol. I know a person will only get out what they put in. Im glad that you are having a good experience and everyone who I have contacted on this website has said the same thing. Im planning on applying for the october 2011 start so I can get some more of my general ed classes done. Thanks again for giving me more confidence in my decision. Hopefully I will see some of you guys soon.

Do any of you know if the Chicago campus is accredited since it just opened in July? I live fairly far south from both the Chicago and the Addison campus (35 miles from Addison and 25 miles from Chicago) but the Chicago campus is about 10 miles closer. I would love to not have to travel the extra 20 miles a day but it worries me that the Chicago campus may not be accredited yet. The addison campus has been open since 2008 so they are already CCNE accredited and they are more established. I would love to hear some opinions.

A school cannot become accredited until after they graduate their first class, so no they are not yet eligible. Even their Addison campus only became accredited within the last several months.

If you were me would you take the chance of going to the unaccredited campus because its closer or just travel the extra miles to the campus that's already accredited?

I don't really think it matters that it is not accredited at this point. I mean if their other campus got accreditation, and this campus has the exact same classes...then logically this campus would earn accreditation when the time comes I assume.

That's how I would think about it....but if it gives you peace of mind to go to the other campus, then do it!

I was told by an adviser that both the Addison and Chicago campus both have their CCNE accreditation.

Hi all! I work at Chamberlain and can provide you with the details on accreditation for the Chicago and Arlington campuses.

The BSN program at Chamberlain College of Nursing was accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) for a ten year term in October 2004. The CCNE accreditation includes all campuses at which the BSN program is offered.

I hope this info helps!
