Chamberlain College of Nursing - Addison

Nursing Students Chamberlain College

Anyone know anything about this place?

Boy do I agree with you completely. I have been in science classes at a community college where a girl had to leave and asked if someone could take notes for her and no one wanted to. I was in another lab or I would have because I just feel we are all in the same boat.

It doesn't even stop there. I know someone in a community college nursing program and it's competitive there too.

It's competitive to get a job too, and to move up, etc, etc.

But if it is what you want, stay on course, look at the prize in the end and know you are going into a field that you want and will help others. In the end you will win!! Good luck.

ps, I think you will be find with the calc. I have a BA and stayed far from that class. lol

Lol, that's SUPER competitive. I didn't even know it was that bad. Once I'm in the program I wont be trying to compete with others, instead I'll just be focusing on myself and doing well for myself. Anytime I feel exhausted from all of this competition, I think of the outcome if I continue and I don't stop because of that. You shouldn't either! Hopefully, we will all win! :p Hopefully I'll see you around the school in the future. (If I get in, that is)

Hello everyone, I just got the call yesterday that I was accepted for the October (Fall 2010) start!!! :) I applied July 14th, with a H.S. gpa of 3.4 and a college gpa of 3.8. I had a 23 on the ACT and a HESI score of 76....totally bombed the chemistry and biology part of the test. I was nervouse about my HESI score but thank goodness everything else was pretty good. I'm super excited but nervous, I was accepted the first semester the school opened but had to leave after the first week because my car broke down and I lost my job...but I got a second chance and I'm ready to make it to the end this time!! Congrats to anyone else that gets the good news and see u in a few weeks!!! :)

Got the call last week that I was accepted into the program starting in October. Just have to finalize my enrollment and we're all good to go. Can't wait to start! October couldn't come sooner!

i'm only familiar with chamberlain's addison campus, and can't speak for the ohio location. for better info, you might want to check the threads for ohio. however, some of your questions are applicable regardless of campus locale. good luck though!

"I CAN NOT REMEMBER MY GPA FROM HIGH SCHOOL: 1 HOW CAN FIND THAT OUT?"

contact your high school for a copy of your transcript, or ask your college's registration office if they can give you access to your high school transcript

"WHERE DOES THE GPA REQUIREMENTS COME FROM IF U HAVE REALLY HAVE NO COLLEGE?"

my guess is the gpa requirement will likely fall to your high school gpa, but to get a definite answer speak to a chamberlain admission advisor

"IT STILL SAYS ON WEBSITE ACCEPTING APP FOR OCT HOW LONG DID TAKE BEFORE YOU FIND OUT?"

i'm not sure if they're still accepting apps for october, but it's possible. i only say that b/c lots of new student stuff is being scheduled for new students starting the week of sept. 7 (enrollment finalization, drug/background checks, registration, etc) and throughout sept and october.

i applied the last week of july and found out first week of august...so thankfully the wait wasn't too long. i hate being so nervous i can't sleep!

"I AM A MOTHER OF 6 SO I KNOW I WILL GET FIN AIDE, BUT WHAT OTHER AIDE DID ANYONE RECIEVE?"

the financial aid package offered to me kinda sucked, but it was expected. as for any school, you really should apply for financial aid as soon as possible (even if you haven't officially applied or are awaiting word). it's a pretty quick process once you electronically send in your info. chamberlain has scholarship opportunities, etc. hope this helps.

I just got accepted for the Fall semester starting in Oct. at the Addison campus..

Definitely excited, but one question though... does anyone have any idea how many guys go through the program? I'm a little bit worried about getting excluded in study groups or "cliques" just b/c i'm a guy trying to work my way through the nursing program..

Hey x489, I'm a male and will begin in October as well. From what I heard from people I know in the program, their are more males then what we presume, at least 3 to 4 in a classroom. Will just have to wait and see, I guess. My names Ronnie, will probably end up running into each other. Best of luck

I wanted to throw in my two sense worths about Chamberlain. I am "finishing up" here so I think I have a valid opinion :)

For those of you looking at attending Chamberlain, make sure you do ALL your homework. I am sure the school has changed a lot, but my biggest warning is that this school is not a accelerated program. Just know exactly how many semesters it will take you (if time is an important factor to you). In October I will have only 8 credits left to complete... but am not able to graduate until June 2011. A full school year for only 8 credits- furthermore, I have already taken 2 semesters with only part time credit, as that is what they would allow. Now, I came into the program with a bachelors in an unrelated field. So being that most of my gen eds were completed, they would not let me combine nursing courses.

I wish I would have known this starting the program. If you have any questions about Chamberlain (questions you can not find on the website), please let me know.... I'd be happy to help.

Hi there. How do you like the program? I am in admissions process there right now. How are the instructors. Do you find that they are helpful to you? I have so many questions. Any info would help. I am a little discouraged by the price. It is extremely expensive.

Thanks

The program overall has been good- however I cannot say that I would recommend it. Although most of the teaching staff has been great, if you read my post above you can tell that it has been a long ride & they have lacked in communication. If you are okay with the length of time they expect you to be in school for the amount of credits you have to complete, I think you will like it. Personally I would have done better at a more accelerated program. They expect you to work your life around nursing school, which would be fine if I was going to school fulltime. However, I am only taking 4 credits over 4 months. Waaaayyyy too slow for me and I have to work to keep myself busy!

It is expensive, however if I remember correctly I remember it being comparable to other private schools. You can def. expect a price increase in the summer though; they have done it twice already since I have been there.

Any other questions?
