Anyone know anything about this place?

I know that applications are not due until July 15th, so they make decisions 3-9 weeks after the application date. They have to wait until July 15th to go through the applicants.

I applied and got in last year but changed mind until I had some more prereqs done but if I remember correctly it took a couple months to find out. Do you know your GPA and HESI score??

Hi Lisa, so my GPA is not good...it is 2.85. And I scored a 89.7 on the HESI. Do you think I stand a chance, I also wrote an essay explaining my low GPA.

i know it's easier to get in a private school than a community college. I have a 4.0 in my community college classes they want and got on waiting list A. I have about a 3.4 and a 92.7 HESI at Chamberlain and got in. Did your adviser say to write a letter regarding the GPA? Do you have some of the classes done already or are you going in for all 3 years? Who is your adviser there? I think if they told you to write a letter, you have a good chance esp with your HESI score. I think that score says you have the ability to get better grades. Oh, I also found out I got in before the info came from them while on the phone with my adviser. No harm in calling there but maybe give it a couple weeks. If you are looking at other schools, apply everywhere, just in case but I know you need a 2.75 min. to get in so you are on the good side of that. Good luck.

I have about 39 credits that will transfer there, I have completed my Bachelor's in Psychology from UIC. My advisor is Josh Ryan, he actually said I didn't have to retake the test because that score is good enough. Also, after reading information from this forum I realized that he didn't ask me to write an essay regarding my GPA, therefore I emailed him and he said I could write an essay if I thought that my GPA was below my standards, and so I did. What got me nervous was that when I asked him awhile back if my file was reviewed he said NO there are ALOT OF APPLICANTS! sooo.. i guess i just have to wait. I applied to Lewis University already as well. Thanks sooo much LISA!

Hi, had a friend that went to Lewis and loved it. But I got into Chamberlain last year and turned them down until I got more of the science in from a community college. I think you have a better chance than he knows. he's my counselor too. Keep the faith! But keep all the doors open. West Suburban is a hike but it SUPER awesome if you go to an open house. I fell in love with it but live so close to Chamberlain. KIT and let me know how it going. Best of luck to you. You will be a nurse!!!!

There's some great information in this thread, thank you everyone!

I am new to this website. I applied for the fall semester this past Tuesday. They ask for all of your transcripts, including high school and ACT scores. I have about a 3.10 cumulative GPA (3.89 HS GPA) and I scored a 23 on the ACT. Took the Hesi and got a 91.1% (my advisor told me the students applying should at least be in the B range). I bought the A2 study guide which looks extremely helpful, but I didn't use it because I detest standardized tests and procrastinate them to the max. There was no Physics on the exam which I was happy about. The math is easy. The human anatomy was the hardest subject on that exam for me. Mr. Ryan said that I would be receiving an evaluation on how many credits they accept from previous schools (I have roughly 70 credit hours) within 7-10 days. He also said I will be notified whether I am accepted or not within 4-6 weeks. I understand it is expensive, but so is every other private school. If money is an issue, I suggest looking at community colleges. Also, I've been trying to pay the $95 application fee via telephone, but every time I call, I get an answering machine. Guess they don't want their money after all! :p

They don't use your high school GPA at all. They just want to know you graduated high school. But yes, no physics. They use a mathematical formula for how well you did on the test. I believe English counts more. Those scores are good and I have no doubt you will get in. But I had a BA from a state school and a lot of my stuff didn't count. Lots need to be taken over. I am taking them at the community college and probably applying again next year. I got in last year before I ever took a science course. Good luck.

Yeah I wasn't sure why they needed a HS transcript, figured it was for the GPA. It seems like the only people having problems with the school are the ones with degrees who aren't getting very many credits transferred, and the ones who are doing poorly at the school. That's good you're going to stick with it next year.

I just got my evaluation back the other day. 25/70 credits transferred. It's reasonable for me because the other classes I took were pre req's for pharmacy (switched majors). There's one class they didn't take that I wish they would, but 3 credits doesn't really bother me that much. Hopefully if I get in I can get my BSN in roughly two years and maybe another quarter or so.

That sounds good, I am hoping to get it done in 2 years too. I was a little annoyed because my math was the same class basically but they won't take it. I really didn't want to take that again. The rest of the gen eds should be basically done. I am ready to just go already. lol.

I know it's pretty frustrating, I've been in school for about three years now (Even took a course to get my CNA certification for a community college Nursing program) and most of it wont count for anything, but that's my own fault. I've taken up to Calc 1 in college so if they didn't accept my math I'd probably be pretty upset. The process of getting into a nursing school is tedious to me..I am not good with competition at all. I work really well unless I know I'm competing with others. So all this competitiveness really irks me..can't wait for it to be over with already lol

Boy do I agree with you completely. I have been in science classes at a community college where a girl had to leave and asked if someone could take notes for her and no one wanted to. I was in another lab or I would have because I just feel we are all in the same boat.

It doesn't even stop there. I know someone in a community college nursing program and it's competitive there too.

It's competitive to get a job too, and to move up, etc, etc.

But if it is what you want, stay on course, look at the prize in the end and know you are going into a field that you want and will help others. In the end you will win!! Good luck.

Lisa

ps, I think you will be find with the calc. I have a BA and stayed far from that class. lol
