CGFNS exam is not a mandatory exam for licensure in the US. The only two exams are NCLEX-RN and the series of English exams, if you are not exempt from them.

The CGFNS exam is waived for Michigan if you are a Canadian nurse, or have worked for at least five years in the US as an RN. It is currently the only state where you cannot get licensed in another state, then endorse to there.

Illinois recently abandoned its requirement for the CGFNS exam, and now only requires the CES.

Most states are now just requiring the Credentials Evaluation Service (CES) done by CGFNS. This is different than the exam.

Immigration only requires that one exam be done, CGFNS or NCLEX. You will ultimately be required to sit for the NCLEX exam, so if you can afford to take that one, then that is the way to go.

Hope that this clears up any rumors that are flying around the world at the moment.

Did u received the letters already, i mean the numerical scores. Coz until now i don't have it yet.

And i saw in the internet that they send me a custum letter send last jan. 2, 06 what does it means.

I'm worried because i'm not receiving any letters that cgfns have mailed already...

If you are out of the US, it usually takes several weeks, before you will recieve any mail. It is first routed via Switzerland in most cases, then sent on.

I would wait until the end of the month, it has only been ten days so far.

how about my numerical score last july 2005 and NOV. 2005 test result, i did'nt receive any of it, its been a months.... what will i do

I have received my score, and my friends who took the November 9 exam have all gotten theirs. The postmark on my letter was Sweden.

And i saw in the internet that they send me a custum letter send last jan. 2, 06 what does it means.
Well, a lot of mail from CGFNS aren't received by the addressees, at least here in Manila.

Your letter could be the one with your exam score.

I'm worried because i'm not receiving any letters that cgfns have mailed already...
I suggest calling them up.

A friend couldn't see if she passed online, and she didn't get a letter. I advised her to call up CGFNS, and she was informed that she passed.

Use the PLDT Budget Card, it's P5/minute.

The employee told my friend to just wait for her CGFNS Certificate after at least 6 weeks.

She got the impression CGFNS will not send another letter.

most of the applicants do not get letters posted on the correspondence page of their cgfns account. it is not only in manila, i am in the usa and my cgfns account showed that they had sent a total of 12 letters out of which i got only 2. the first one was a welcome letter with my cgfns id, second i got was 9 months after i sent the application. the letter stated that i was ineligible to take the test. after that i requested my nursing school to resend the deficient credential, took the test and passed. cgfns correspondence record kept on incresing in number..but i got none of those. their 12th correspondence was titled "inactivity correspondence." i did not understand what that meant and waited for the letter for 6 weeks..but i did not get... i called cgfns to find out what the letter was about and where all the letters are going. the lady said "we can not take responsibility for the post office" in other words she was trying to blame post office for not delivering the letters. to tell you the truth, us postal service is the most reliable postal care i have ever seen. i timely get mails from all over the world but cgfns. i asked her if she could resend the letter to me. her reply was-"the letter has nothing to do". i asked what was it about. she said the same thing taht was in my online account. they had made some funny change in my online account status. they wrote that my nursing education form was received but not accepted. as a matter of fact, i had passed the cgfns exam 2 months earlier. i talked to the charge person and everything was resolved later..but....this is the way cgfns works...

i doubt that they send those never gotton letters. i am not the only one who had problem with cgfns, there are 100s of us. fortunately, i have both of my certificates now..but i still need to deal with them for my cvs..which i hate, though.

and again, cgfns updated my online account stating that they mailed my cgfns certificate on 8th of (november) i guess. i generally get mails from neighboring states within 2-4 days. i called cgfns after a week and again next week and again after that. each time i got different answers. finally i got my certificate. the envelope was stamped on 26th of the same month.

[yes i have receved the letter from cgfns containing my score...the exam was nov 9, i got the letter january 5. im stil waiting for my certificate...hopefully there wont be any snags...

maybe it helps bec my address is a po. box

My online status page said another Welcome was sent...but I didn't get it. I think it was for the Visa Screen application.

I wonder what postal service they use, and why they continue to patronize it, considering the high volume of mail not being received by the recipient.

I learned not to worry about the letters mentioned there in online account because if it is really important like your certificate or exam score..you will defenitely get it. But interestingly, they do not mention these things in correspondence page.

And if it is just a welcome letter or something CGFNS thinks is not really important for the applicant but important for them for record/legal purpose..then it will be mentioned in the correspondence page but you don't get it. God knows the whereabouts of these letters.
