Cedars-Sinai RN New Grad 2011

Published

Just wanted to know if anyone here got an e-mail invitation on Cedars-Sinai RN New Grad Program. I had my phone interview with them on December 29th. I received my e-mail today inviting me to the hiring event Open House for the Program on January 19th. I'm soooo nervous. It's been almost a year since I graduated and I finally got my first in-person interview! It's been so hard on all of us graduates! Let's hope for the best! :D

Hi everyone! good luck to those still waiting! For area of interest i put Labor and Delivery. I do no live in LA but in the OC area so I am planning to relocate. I think they contact the references after you are hired, which is the next step.

So they have us fill out an employment application after the interview and then contact references after the applicant accepts the position?? Very unique system :)

Thats what it seems like because some people are getting hired the same day of submitting their application. Either theyre fast, or theyll check afterwards (although i dont see the point in doing that).

Specializes in Nursing.

Thanks for informing me of the start dates!

And for those who received job offers from Cedars, what were your unit choices? I know someone said pediatrics...any others? Maybe they're doing it by units?

Does anyone know if Cedars requires you to sign a commitment with them? At some hospitals (ex. CHLA), if you are hired as a new grad, you have to sign a 2-year commitment, and if you break that commitment before the 2 years is up, you owe the hospital money (I believe CHLA was $10,000, so not cheap!). I combed through the thread for the Spring 2011 cohort and it looked like someone said it was an 18-month commitment. I forgot to ask about this at open house.... anybody know?

Thanks!

Yes, I did ask this at the open house. You are committed as a new grad the first 4 months of training. After that 4 months, you sign another agreement that will keep you at the hospital for another 18-20 months. At least that is what I understood her trying to explain! haha

Have any of you guys that are selected said your area of interest in the ICU (and specifically surgical ICU?). Thanks!

I requested MICU

Hi Everyone, any norcal applicants accepted that we know of?

Hmmmmm ... any calls today?

Anyone for medsurg?

I wonder what's going on. I swear the previous threads were more consistent with the "I got the call!" posts. This time around, it seems like no one on this thread is getting a call. This is making me more anxious. It would be nice to know how many people have received phone calls so far
