  1. Our school offered mental counseling and therapy for students. You can probably get referral to see a therapist/psychiatrist if needed. Talking it out helps tremendously whether it be to a healthcare provider or even a friend you make in class. Don't feel like you are alone, there is people you can reach out to who will help you get through! :redbeathe
  2. Hey you, Hang in there. I moved out of state for nursing school too. I felt lonely in the beginning because I didn't know anyone, and I lived alone. Did you make any friends in class? Your close friends from home may feel distant or call you alot less since you are far away, and probably think you are busy due to school... Same thing happened to me and I felt terrible since I began to feel the same way. Just know you went into nursing school with a purpose, and sometimes we do have to sacrifice few things in order to reach our goal. Just remember in matter of time, you will be done, and next thing you know it, you will be back home and ready to begin your journey as a RN. Make friends from school, I did... gradually, then you will feel less distant and lonely. Also, if you like, join a gym or take classes at gym (like yoga or aerobics)! I did, which made me feel stronger and better emotionally and physically. Take time off in between studies to enjoy doing things you like to do... that way you will not feel burnt out. Keep your head up and what ever challenges you face, don't give up and keep working toward your goal. G luck to you!
  3. I didn't know they have a new grad RN program in Riverside Medical. When did you apply? Sorry it's not helping you with your question, but I was wondering. Thanks in advance. From my experience with interviews, it's good to prep for some scenario type questions, what you would do during work (situation) or medication questions (common meds used, some of side effects, or dosing) you need to be aware of, esp if you are applying ICU, you may want to look up some commonly used meds in that specialty. Good Luck!
  4. Always g to update. G luck to both of you.
  5. Oh wells, the search continues. I'm hop eful we will all find great positions though in future. Best wishes to all.
  6. I am not going to lie. I really wanted to work for cedars and I still do but as days pass by I feel there is less chance of getting hired. It's good to think of alternate plans if we get a denial email. But till the email I still have some hope left. Life brings unexpected things... I say don't give up just yet.
  7. thanks for he update kristy. Good to know so we don't mass email her regarding same question. :)
  8. If not this week I'm hoping next week we will hear back. All I can do is hope for the best. Until told otherwise there is still a chance maybe. Till then, trying best to keep myself occupied with my phone by my side ofcourse. hehe
  9. I would really like an opportunity to work. I graduated a year ago. It's so hard to be positive when finding a new grad position is really hard....
  10. An old female patient pressed the call light and I responded saying, "Can I help you?" She goes, I like you so I wrote a song for you with my name. I smiled, she smiled, it brightened up both of our day! :)
  11. I went to a small private school too. Out of state. They were accredited though.
  12. Wow guys. I live less than 2 miles from cedars too. I do have a BSN and really want to work for Cedars to be closer to family since I went out of state for nursing school to hopefully get a heads start on nursing rather than being on a long wait list in California but after being back and passing boards since January I had no luck in finding employment. Well, all we can do is hope for the best. There is always light at end of the tunnel. If not this, I'm sure there are opportunity for us somewhere. Best of luck to your new job. Commute sounds like a killer but if it helps I used to drive almost every week during beginning of nursing school back home which was over a 4 hour drive. :-)
  13. Regarding the number of applicants versus jobs available, Cedars do offer quite a bit more jobs per applicants. I thought they interviewed around 300 applicants. I did take some time off after graduation, however I've been applying for jobs since before the graduation. Only after I passed my NCLEX, I got offered for interview, however the odds of getting hired was like 10 to 1. I can totally relate to you daughter going for runs to relieve anxiety and not looking at the thread, because staying physically active helps me mentally too. Congratulations to your daughter for getting hired. It's really nice to get a job offer right away out of school, because I know so many people who are dying for any job/ experience who is having no luck. I am sure she will make a decision that she feels would make her happy. Cedars seem like a far move from WA, however if she loves running, it's close to Santa Monica Beach where she can run and relieve her stress/anxiety in future. It's a nice neighborhood. Expensive but sunny all year around!
  14. Thanks for the update willowlove
  15. Congratulations j point. Will tomorrow be last day of contact? If we are not contacted by tomorrow I guess they will be sending out emails for those not hired.
