Just wanted to start a thread for Cedars 2010 Grad program. Anyone heard back yet? What are your stats?
***Grrr!!!*** I just posted a long reply and it got deleted.
Ok, let's try this again:
Hello Hopefuls!
Since my last dilemma, I had my interview and explained my situation to the "Recruitment Specialist" and she understood. Make sure if you need to contact your interviewer, you can do so b/c their name & phone # is listed in the email. I called Saturday morning and explained that I would go to the interview even w/o my 2 LOR's and if she wanted to turn me away, I would understand. But I had to try anyways. Fortunately she called when I was already on the 405 fwy and said to come in. At the end of the interview, the recruiter said I could fax/hand deliver my LOR as soon as I rec'd them in the mail.
At the interview the recruiter said we would all be asked the same 10 q's from a yellow sheet and I could see it was scored 1-5. As the recruiter asked me q's she also wrote my responses and asked me to repeat a few things as she was writing them down. Typical interview q's of "why do you want to work for CS?", "how would your coworkers describe your personality?", "do you prefer to work independently or as a team?" and then there were behavioral q's. Be sure to support your answers with examples.
The whole interview lasted about 25 mins give or take. The reason it was w/ a recruiter and not an RN or RN Manager/Dept Director is because they have to weed out 1600+ applicants down to 250 or so. This process is going to be over 3 weeks and we should expect to hear back in 4 weeks via email or letter if we asked to come back or not. I interviewed 4/12 so I'm hoping to hear back by 5/12 latest.
I hope this helps. I like to be prepared so I typed in "Cedars-Sinai 2009" in the Allnurses.com search bar to read about the New Grad experiences in the past. It's similar w/ the exception that they specified "3.5 GPA" this time. I hope this helps ease some of your nerves. Be confident and yourself. Think about the question then answer rather than ramble. Its okay to pause and then reply. Silence isn't a bad thing b/c it shows thought. If you need to, ask for clarification or to repeat the question.
Now with that said, does anyone have any advice for an interview with an ED Dept Director? What q's do they ask? behavioral/situational? Any examples? Do they ask meds/what would you do if _______ came into the ED? I have another interview Friday and am scared to death.
Good luck and let's stay positive and supportive of each other!
You are too sweet to have posted that long post along with all that helpful information! I have not interviewed yet for a department, but for the ED, i would definitely assume they would ask case study/situational questions. you will do great! What hospital are you interviewing for?
I spoke to the gentlemen that was listed on the email on 4/12 for the primary phone confirmation email and I got a reply email that stated to be patient since his is scheduling a high volume of interviews. He said to keep an eye out on your email for a confirmation (as we all know). I could sense the stress in his email so I left it at that and I am still "keeping an eye out".
Did anyone get a phone interview yet?
Justwandering31- the ED interview went well. I hope to hear back from them by Wednesday. I was honest and told them I had an offer from one smaller hospital in the ED and recently, an interview with Cedars-Sinai. Though I believe CS is one of the best and renown hospital for quality care & research, it is a 2 hr commute. I told the interviewers, I'd rather give up my spot early on and maybe another new Grad would be able to fill that position. (Trust me, I know what its like to feel like there's not enough opportunities.)
Good luck, try to have a good weekend and not stress over it too much everyone!

Hi everyone,
I also got the email and am waiting to hear back when my phone interview is. To respond to an above poster, I don't think they are responding by gpa order, I have a 3.87, 2nd Bachelor and I think they are responding in order received. I can't imagine how many applicants they have!
Good luck everyone!
