  1. Public health nurses usually work for the government. The term PHN means that your client is the public. You are there to prevent disease, promote health and educate the public. I don't know of any PHN's who work in the private sector unless they are working part time as a regular RN. As a PHN you are essentially working for the Public Health Department and usually positions are only posted in county or government websites.
  2. the only thing that the nurse recruiter told me was from the 1600 original applicants they are narrowing it down to 150-200 applicant and a final 50 new grads will get hired and will go through their residency program.
  3. hi hellosandiego, thank you..you're actually right..in county I will be serving the underserved and there I can be more resourceful and make do with whatever is available..I passed the eligibility last december 09..I never knew that they were hiring new grads until I volunteered..this is how I got the job!!! I got an interview with the NM and it took more than a month before they gave the offer and BTW, it it in the ED..
  4. thanks northbay.. i have been offered for county..but still waiting for cedars since the open house is still this coming friday..but there's conflict of schedule with the cedar's open house..so..i guess im going for the sure offer..one less competition for everyone waiting on cedars..
  5. Please help me decide..cedars or county? As a new grad RN which is better to start off my career..considering, training, benefits, salary..im much closer to the county hospital than cedars..What would you choose?
  6. The nurse recruiter who interviewed me said that they are narrowing down 1600 original applicants into 150-200 that go through to the next round..then a final 50 new grads will be chosen for the residency.. I got my email notification today for the second round of interviews..good luck to us all!
  7. hi newbiegal, I had my interview last week and the recruiter told me they will have the open house on may 21. Did that mean I go through to the next round if he mentioned it to me? or do we have to wait for an email or a call? thanks. I remember he said they will let people know by second week of May who will attend.. I guess i answered my own question..
  8. anybody heard from them yet since the first email?
  9. what was the interview like? were there technical or clinical situation questions? congrats on your interview!
