  1. Well said. I just graduated myself in CA and I have doors opening up for me that I thought I would never have. Before graduation I told myself I need to trust the skills, knowledge, and people skills that I do have and hit the ground running. Thankfully I started talking to my preceptors and nurse managers of the hospitals I was interested in early because now it is all paying off. A nurse manager called me to interview for them next month. All I can say is being proactive is key to all success and having the faith in yourself is important too. Good luck to everyone taking their future in their hands and making doors open :)
  2. That interview experience was interesting from start to finish. It was my first RN interview since graduating in March so I learned a lot of good tips and how these interviews are structured. Was anyone else dissapointed to hear when they got to Cedar for the interview that they weren't itnerviewing for the ED anymore. I was there specifically to interview for that department and they made that change the same day i think. Did anyone in the 1:45pm slot get to interview for the ED? If so how did it go? On the other hand, I got to do my 2nd interview with the Critical Care Director and it went very well. He shoke my hand after the 1st question and said "that was a very intelligent answer". Made me feel pretty awesome since I was down about not interviewing for the ED but I guess that's just as good. I failed to get the names of the 1st and 2nd interviewer though. On a lighter note, it was a beautiful day and I can't wait to hear their desicions.
  3. Hello New Graduates! I currently am a new graduate myself and have applied to a handful of new grad programs the past 2-3 months before graduation. Luckily enough I have been interviewed by 2 hospitals and was recently chosen for SMU new grad residency for the 2010 cohort. But I am waiting for UCSF's interview process to begin next month but I would love input from anyone who has completed SMU or UCSF's New Graduate programs. I interned at UCSF and Kaiser and loved both experiences. Samuel Merriot is contracted with Kaiser Permanente so I am curious if anyone was offered positions before they finished the program? I heard of a few people that were offered new grad positions during the SMU program. Thanks.
  4. No they just put the Address of the HR dept as supplemental info. I followed up with HR and it is extra information. I got my 2nd interview invitation today! Very excited, now its my turn to jet set down to LA...anyone from Nor-Cal going down and know of good airline options and prices? Thanks:D
  5. I noticed the same thing for my phone interview but I called HR and its just extra information. They will call you at that time or a little earlier and my interview lasted about 25-30 min.
  6. When did those who got the 2nd interview have their 1st interview? Last week or few weeks ago? What's the layout for the 2nd stage? (i.e. open house or in person interview with manager) Thanks :)
  7. Please let us know when people start getting emails/calls about the 2nd stage interview. Thanks
  8. great thanks for that information. i just noticed i never asked that question. have you participated in the residency before? if so, i would love to hear how you liked it. thanks :)
  9. Does anyone know how much the program will cost?
  10. I received an email confirmation for my phone interview this morning. I live in Nor-Cal. It states that if we are selected to move to the 2nd stage, we have to bring our portfolios completed. I wonder if it is a cattle-call or an interview with a nurse manager. I have a feeling they haven't started to weed people out yet.
  11. I received an email confirmation of my phone interview for tomorrow morning. I live in Nor-Cal. In the email it didnt give dates about the May forum everyone is talking about but it did say that you would be required to bring your portfolio if selected to move to the 2nd phase. Check your emails!
  12. I just received an email this morning about a phone interview for tomorrow. I am out of the LA area but I too was waiting forever for this email and I finally got it! I will make sure my phone is charged!
  13. The scary thing is that my cover letter is pretty darn close to yours..lol..great minds think alike but you are the eployed one :) I hope to be there soon. Now I know I need to spice it up a little more since everyone knows the secret.Just kidding. Good luck to all new grads!
  14. I havent heard from sharp yet either. I called HR and they said that the will be calling applicants starting april 19th which is toatlly contradictory from what the website says. Interviews begin: April 19th. Soooooo..i have no clue. I would think the last day of calls would be Apr 19th. Right? I would love to hear if anyone has gotten any response yet.:)
  15. HELLO!! Just curious if anyone applied to Mercy San Juan Medical Center's New grad program that was posted last week. It closed on Wednesday per HR. I wasn't able to find any information about timelines about the program like when to expect a call/letter, date of program, etc. The HR just gave me an email of someone (forgot to ask if it was a nurse recruiter) Ill email them later. Has anyone been in their program last year? How was it?
