Just curious if any who have applied have heard if they've been accepted to CCAC Nursing program for Spring 2010 admittance?

Also, does anyone out there know what the likelihood is of getting your fist choice?

When you get the DPW letter.. SAVE it, scan it whatever.. Make a copy, that is what Shannon wants to see. When you get the reg ID from cogent, email it to her.

Ironically, with that ID they can look up the results. So the system really is redundant and then some, hence why do you need the unofficial copy when you have an official letter, and they can look up the official results on-line. I asked about that and the sweet answer was don't shoot the messenger and don't panic if you don't get an unofficial copy.

What is needed by the 18th are all the clearances and proof of the 2 step PPD, everything else ideally should be completed by the start of classes.

ok don't mean to sound like an idiot, but what is 2 step PPD?

That's your TB test.

You're not an idiot! (I did not know what it was either) You have to be tested twice for TB. You get your 1st test go back in 2 days to have it read then you have to do the test again in 10 days but not longer than 21 days between the 2................ getting all the vaccinations and titers has been a pain. I did my 1st tb test today, had blood drawn for 2 titers, I had to get an mmr shot because when I was a child my 1st measles shot was before I was 1, and I had my tetorifice shot today too! ( my arm hurts!..........LOL)

Hello Everyone. charlie2981, my name is Emily actually.

Someone mentioned something about going to the health department for our immunizations and physical, I looked up through the health department low cost or free health clinics, because currently I am completely without health insurance! So I went to the health department's website (http://www.achd.net) and on the home page was a list of low cost, free, or income based clinics (called Guide for the Uninsured and Underinsured). You have to bring in some information about yourself but it's worth it for the reduction of cost. I've applied for insurance recently but there is no way I'll have it in time for the December 18th deadline.

Also, I can't wait to meet my fellow fast trackers on Monday! Registration starts at 5:30pm but does anyone know how long it might run for? My husband works nights so I need to know if he should request that night off.

I hope all of you are doing well and aren't too sick from all this pressure!

This really is cathartic being able to post here and know I'm not alone!

I'm SO excited for Monday!! :D I heard it's supposed to be an hour or two, but I don't know how accurate that is. I know that we get our class schedules and there will be someone there to fit us for scrubs, but I don't know if there is anything else happening. I do know that if you can't be there too long you don't have to get measured for scrubs that night, you can always do it on your own time and go to the company's store. I'm curious to see how this whole "lottery system" for classes is going to work out.

Is anyone planning on starting this Spring with a Palm/iTouch/Blackberry for class/clinicals?

Just seeing what others have found or planning to use.

thanks

I have a blackberry storm. I was not sure if we were allowed to use them for class or clinicals. I don't even know where to find what apps. we would use to down load. Do you have any Idea what apps. we would use and where you find them?

My Fundamentals of Nursing textbook just arrived! Let me tell you: OMG!!! This book is huge!

Im really happy with the book; it appears to be very thorough. It goes step-by-step through procedures (from sheet changing, to shots, to catheters, etc.) explaining everything and there are a lot of pictures. Can't wait until I have time to really sit down and read through it.

i just wanted to say happy thanksgiving! to everyone............i am thankful that i made it into the nursing program.........now that thanksgiving is here, christmas is around the corner and before you know it we will all be starting nursing classes!!:yeah::yeah:

have a safe & happy holiday!!!!

happy thanksgiving!!

Hey everyone!!! I have a question for anyone in the Boyce program. Is there anyone with a full time job????? I hear that it is impossible to work full time and go to school in the fast track program.

I go to Boyce and I worked full-time this semester. I don't think 101 in the spring will be any different than taking it in the fall. I know in fast track you'll have to take 102 during the summer, and that'll probably be different than taking it in the fall or spring.
