CCAC Spring 2010

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Just curious if any who have applied have heard if they've been accepted to CCAC Nursing program for Spring 2010 admittance?

Also, does anyone out there know what the likelihood is of getting your fist choice?

When I go to their site I get one listing for a place out in OH. What parameters did you put in for their search for a class?

Go to the CPR tab and click on 'Find a CPR Class'. Only enter your zipcode and a mileage radius. Unselect the 'View Schedule Classes' section. It should come up with a list of centeres that provide classes. Some of them have websites that you can go to that have schedules or you can find a place close to you and call them.

I got the list of required books at registration yesterday but was wondering if anyone out there had the ISBN numbers? That's the best way of assuring you have the right edition if you order it online. Anyway, I was going to call and ask Monday, but if anyone already has that information, would you mind passing it on?

From what I understand, all books on the list are "required" but two, "Fundamentals of Nursing, Standards & Practice + Student Handbook & Studyguide" and "Med-Surg Nursing: Critical Thinking in Client Care + Study Guide" are the must-haves.

Online certifications aren't acceptable, at least not at Boyce campus. I assume the same goes for all the other campus. I went to the American Heart Association's website and it gave me a huge list of places to get certified. I went to the EMS Center in Brentwood today and got mine done. Very quick and easy, $50.

this is the stuff that kills me... One nursing advisor actually told me to go get the online class then take the skills at CCAC. Regardless, I am taking mine at CCAC for the 50 bucks.

Can someone please tell me what to select for the PATCH clearance? Do I select 'healthcare' or 'education'?

Thanks so much! I got accepted in Boyce and am super excited. Any suggestions for area apartments/rentals would be greatly appreciated as well!

You need to select healthcare for the clearance.......Congratulations on getting in!!!!:yeah::yeah:

I just realized that "Fundamentals of Nursing, Standards & Practice + Student Handbook & Studyguide" is really three separate books. So it means "Med-Surg Nursing...+ Study Guide" is two.

Just a little heads up to people going through amazon/ebay: you may have to buy them separately (that's what i'm doing).

I can either post the ISBN numbers or post links that have info. and pictures of the books. Let me know if you need them still.

I posted this over on the CCAC/CALU thread.

use this site http://www.bookdealfinder.com/ it will show all the possibilities and in some cases Half.com/amazon is not the cheapest.

If you want to sell your books there is a similar search engine that will bring up the highest price you will get. http://bookscouter.com/

I would recommend before going all out on new books check and see what the going rate is on used one's, if the price is dropping or no one is interested that generally means a new edition is on the horizon. You may not want to invest in something that is going to be outdated, unfortunately our bookstores don't always tell us that a certain edition is being phased out.

Finally, I would also suggest on bundles, looking at the publisher website. I have found a handful of times they sell the same bundle the school does at a fraction of the cost. The flip side to be honest, you may have to wait a few weeks as they cater to schools first and individual customers last. Also don't forget http://www.retailmenot.com for discount codes for online book purchases. 10% or free shipping adds up.

Please post the information you have.

Thanks:yeah:

Ok for the fingerprinting registration I have a few questions.

Do we check the box for paper fingerprinting that is $4?

Do we list childcare employment or employment with the liklihood of contact with children, as the reason for fingerprinting?

On my paper from Shannon it says check the Department of Welfare box where is that? If it is on the next page let me know as I have not gotten past the first page and since there is this 3 week time crunch I don't want to mess this up.

Thanks,

technically you are suppose to check the box for the paper copy, but I can tell you if you should not it will not make a difference in the outcome. The difference is the extra copy is an "unofficial" copy, you will get an official copy anyways.

Yes, you chose likelihood of contact with children

On the congent site, http://www.pa.cogentid.com/index.htm the middle icon is DPW, choose that one or go directly via this link https://www.pa.cogentid.com/index_dpw.htm

You do the fingerprints, 24-48 hours later they send them to the FBI, usually within 72 hours they send the results to DPW which sends you the results. Total time is 7-9 days, mine took exactly a week from prints to receiving the letter.
