Hey!
Is anyone applying for the RN program that starts Fall 2011?
I'm going to apply for South. Last I checked, they didn't have the application packets yet. I hope they get them soon! Do other campuses have them?
It would be great to get some discussion started. Thanks everyone!
Hello all! I am new to the site but have been at South campus for two years now, knocking out all the classes I need for my BSN. I have just been accepted and received my info packet for the South evening program. I am SO excited! MZK8, I wonder if I have had any classes with you? I am in A&PII with a handful of girls who are also in the evening program at South. They're all really great and its so nice to know some people ahead of time. Hope to meet you! Good luck and congrats to all!! :clpty:
How did you get Amber to call you i can't get a hold of her and left her several messages ? i might have to try and get hold of the dean of nursing. I am a newly graduated lpn and applied for lpn to rn and today got a letter stating they wondered why i haven't applied because my gpa was above 2.5 and i have more than 30 credits, this is confusing. I also graduated in my lpn class as valedictorian. anybody got any answers for this?

I don't think we have met. I haven't been to CCAC in years except this past February to take a CIT class. I transferred a lot of credits from Point Park (where I got my BS), but I found out a couple weeks ago that they are not going to accept my A&P's because I took them too long ago. Oh well, it won't hurt to retake and refresh. Hope to see you there. I am working on getting my packet completed ASAP so I can get it over with and try to relax a little before classes start in fall. We all know how hectic our lives are going to be after that.
mzk8, I'm sorry to hear about your A&P's not transferring! I can't imagine trying to take the NRN classes with A&P.... My head would explode! I don't know when they have to be done according to the program layout but maybe you could take them during the summer semesters. ??? My name is Machelle, and hopefully we'll get to meet soon!
Sewnmom, I sympathize with your anxiety! I have a son who is 15 months old, as well as moving this summer and planning my wedding for the end of summer. Not to mention graduating in May and don't forget my summer classes! I think that you've come this far and done well so you'll be fine. I'm hoping I will be too!
Just wanted to say thanks to Rebecca for all of the handy info! You've probably been more help than anyone I've talked to in the Nursing Dept! Its like they want to keep everything very mysterious until you're actually in the program, as if we're joining some kind of secret society.
I'm nervous but more excited than I have been about anything in a long time!!
I think you are right. CCAC Central must have been acting up because now it is showing that no one is registered yet. Whew, that scared me for a second!Still waiting on my packet. Hope it comes today so I can get started. Busy summer ahead!
hi are you doing the lpn to rn transition? I am and it's taken forever to get any answers. I applied the first week of April because i graduated from lpn school on feb. 25 and passed boards on april 1st. tried several times and left Amber several messages, finally today I called dean of nursing Mrs. Keenan and she said that Amber was out on vacation all this week and they would be mailing out letters this week. do you have any info on this nursing program?
I know I didn't get my acceptance letter until last week and trust me I was a nervous wreck waiting for it! But I'm so happy to be getting on with this process and I can't wait to become a nurse!
I was accepted at Boyce Campus for the Day program. Is anyone else going there? I would like to know someone else in the program since I still do not know too many people here in Pittsburgh! I'm so full of nervous energy!
Hi,
My name is Angela, and I will be attending the South Day program this fall. I too am a returning student with a BS in biology and a Masters degree in Public Administration. I currently work in the nursing school at West Virginia University, working with faculty members on writing grant applications. I do have lots of insight into the ways nursing faculty operate and think, but I am anxious about the practical side of nursing. Most of the people I work with are more into research. I did take microbiology this semester at Allegheny (since my course was over 10 years old) with some current students. They gave me some insight into what the program is like. It's nice to see so many people from South Day on here. I'm not surprised that it took Boyce longer to get their packets out. My husband teaches math there, and one of his colleagues (who works as an advisor) said they were even extending the application deadline to June 1st because they didn't receive enough qualified applicants. I was a little surprised by that. BTW, I just sent a request to join the Facebook group. Hope to meet some of you on June 15th when we have registration.
In case any of you are interested - I just saw this on Craigslist. This person is selling all of his/her nursing books from CCAC. I don't know if they are the same any of us will be using, but it couldn't hurt to look.

I started a group on FACEBOOK where we can all connect if you want. I check facebook a lot so I would see updates quicker. The group is open for now (unless a lot of spammers show up).
Feel free to join.
