CCAC Fall 2011

Published

Hey!

Is anyone applying for the RN program that starts Fall 2011?

I'm going to apply for South. Last I checked, they didn't have the application packets yet. I hope they get them soon! Do other campuses have them?

It would be great to get some discussion started. Thanks everyone!

Anyone else get the packet with all the information about the immunizations, clearings, certifications, etc that we need? Looks like I'll be pretty busy this coming month! :)

Also, thank you so much to everyone sharing their experiences and giving advice. It is immensely helpful!!

Specializes in oncology/hematology, med-surg, FNP.

I got my letter early but didnt get the packet yet. Was it a big envelope? I will be on the look out for it!

Thank you!! I have been studying like crazy. We have one more lecture exam and then the final.

Rebecca has given you all some seriously solid advice about books and waiting to purchase stuff. I know I was so excited to start gathering things that it was hard to wait. It is better to wait and get the right things though.

I think only South and Boyce do the nursing tote. I have some friends that did a transfer from North to South this semester and they said they didn't have to buy a tote. The tote was great. It had skills lab supplies, pen light and a blood pressure cuff in it.

I didn't get the packet yet! I got my acceptance letter on April 1st, and have been looking for it every day since then. Hopefully tomorrow! I am anxious to see this list of things that need to be done.

Hi Rebecca and Kelly. My name is Lori. Looks like we are in the Day South program together. It will be nice to meet you and have some familiar background. Rebecca so you did the whole first semester and now you are retaking it over? Kelly are you in the program already? Where were your clinicals? I also heard that there is a dosage calculation test in the first few weeks, and you have two chances to pass - if not you are kicked out of the program.. is that true?

Hi! I will be in South Day with you guys too! :yeah: Yay!

Specializes in oncology/hematology, med-surg, FNP.

I just talked to Allegheny's Nursing Department. She did say that the first packet went out on Friday with all the clearances. The second packet for registration and orientation will come out later - they dont have the dates all set up yet. She also said that each campus sends their info out separately.

I should get my packet today, hopefully. I called to see what day clinicals would be for day.

My schedule will be four days a week - two long days 8:30 - 1:45 no break and 7 - 3 clinical, one day 12:30 - 4:30, one day 8:30 - 10:20 and one day off. I guess that wont be too terrible.

Specializes in Not really sure yet, maybe teaching.

The day nursing is Monday/Thursday 8:30 - 10:20 for lecture, lab is various times and then clinical is Tuesday or Wednesday.

I actually worked my schedule out a little better pending that I get into the NRN section of lab I want. I am assuming I will get into the lecture since there is only one.

Got my packet today. Lots to do. Scheduled my CPR today. Now off to call my insurance to see if the drug screening is covered.

Did anyone who is going to South campus get their information packets yet?
