CCAC Fall 2011

Published

Hey!

Is anyone applying for the RN program that starts Fall 2011?

I'm going to apply for South. Last I checked, they didn't have the application packets yet. I hope they get them soon! Do other campuses have them?

It would be great to get some discussion started. Thanks everyone!

I got accepted to my first choice, Allegheny Day.

Ah too bad, I am at South Day. But at least we have this thread to keep each other posted. I assume that the same list of items apply for all CCAC campus'?

Thanks! I got my first choice of South Campus Evening. With 2 young children, the day program just would not work for me.

The Littmann stethoscope is very good quality and it's also lighter weight than the others which makes it easier to carry around all day. I love it!

Is anyone else in the South Evening program?

sewnmom,

those books are great! the 1st 3 you listed im pretty sure are required..for clinical you need to bring you drug dosage book everytime not at 1st but especially once we start administering meds. (your clinical intructor will tell u tho) i keep all my books usually in trunk or in a crate that i carry from my house to car when needed..theres just so many that you cant carry all of them. and besides like i said theyre like 3 books in one! :o

during orientation we will be told to get the packets from bookstore-which means "your instructor" (bc we r gonna get broken up into groups) types an entire semester of the lecture you will follow usually in powerpoints...then theres a skills lab packet a clinical packet and a assessment lab packet also. so 4 all together. if you PM me ill giv u my email and anything that i hav that could help i could send over..:D

just talking about it makes me so excited. last time i was in the evening program and it was just too much i think. day program im gonna b able to think better!:yeah:

so while were on subject of clinical-its amazing the experience you get to have. im praying im at jefferson again or st. clair..theyll tell you all this but you are not allowed to miss more than one day of clinical for no reason at all. for example if you get a flat tire on way to school and call instructor, this means youre gonna have to pay 80$ to make it up and you CANT make it up until after finals...its sucha pain but why im telling you this is bc when you have a choice of clinical day, which will probably b saturday, fridays, mondays makesure you pick the right one. like me last year it was flu season me and my son both had this really bad virus and i ended up choosing that itd b better to pay the 80$ than to go in taht sick..my cousin also had a wedding that i was suppose to b in october and i had to tell her i couldnt b in it bc of the one day policy. nursing takes your life but you hav to jus prioritize...;)

Hi, I applied for the program at Boyce campus (only 10 minutes from home). I still haven't received a letter yet, and was wondering if anyone who applied to Boyce has heard anything. Needless to say, I'm desperate for any news.

I'm so glad I found this forum, it has a lot of great information.

sewnmom,

forgot to mention that editions arent rly different at all and most instructors will tell you that. but im sure you'll b fine :D i always asked the teacher i had too just to makesure. but you NEVER do work out of the books. they are all for reference and they will tell you what pages to study...

if i were you i'd review a & p, and maybe even try reading them books just to get a feel. theres questions in end of chapter. and also nclex review books or nclex review questions online are rly beneficial.

THANKS!

I am working on my system for storage for all my paraphernalia! I like to be organized and prepared.

Do you think a kindle would be helpful? I am getting a net book (for a side job and for school use -studying on the go, checking things, etc). I know there are a lot of e-books. I guess we will see how all the e-book stuff works out as we go along - I can only see e-books gaining more fans.

I cant send PM's yet but you can send me one. I have to make several more posts to be allowed I guess.

Thanks for all your help!

Jas101,

Thanks! I'm sure yours will be coming soon. I'm glad I don't have to stalk the mailman any more.
