Hey!
Is anyone applying for the RN program that starts Fall 2011?
I'm going to apply for South. Last I checked, they didn't have the application packets yet. I hope they get them soon! Do other campuses have them?
It would be great to get some discussion started. Thanks everyone!
Thanks! I did call the nursing dept today and they told me the books I would need from the list for the first semester. That helped a lot so I dont have to buy ALL of them at once.
@sewnmom... You are going to South, right? If so, do you mind giving us a list of the books that they told you you would need? I see the book-list online, but I'm not sure we will need ALL of those.
Thanks!
Hi all, I am new to this but accepted into the North Campus Day program. I started a facebook page for everyone--please stop by and sign up. Hopefully with everyone we will be able to share info from all campuses and make these next few years a little easier on ourselves. You can find it by searching "CCAC nursing class-Fall 2011 (unofficial)." YAY us!!

Here is another facebook page for any CCAC student that would like to share info.
Hi Sewnmom,
I never used the Skills Assessment book at all; in fact, I never even bought it. To be honest, I hardly even used the Nursing Fundamentals Book either (I rented mine-- which reminds me, I need to send it back this month lol), although some of the lecture test questions will come from there. So, it can only help to get it. Other than that, def. get the drug book (technically, you COULD get through without it- but drugs are a BIG part of nursing and you will make a lot of drug cards during clinicals). I personally LOVE the Med-Surgical Nursing Book-- it has a HUGE amount of information, a lot of which, while it might be extraneous for nursing 101, will be very handy for doing pathophysiologies that you also will be assigned in clinicals. You can get it for $30-40 on Amazon. com or other sites. I know that in my clinical group, some people didn't get it, only to come around and buy it toward the end of the semester as they realized how handy it is. It is also very convenient for when you get into doing Nursing Diagnoses-- you will see why. :) Also, get the Nursing Diagnoses Book.
These are the only books I got, and I did fine. :)
Thanks Jason.
I found a 50% off BORDERS coupon that I used to buy several books.
So far I got the Medical Dictionary, Physical Assessment with the study guide (they said we should get that one at the dept), all new. I will be getting the Fundamentals book and most of the others. I am just breaking it up. My daughter is also interested in the nursing program at CCAC so hopefully the books can do double duty.
ATTN: CCAC South Students:
Hey!
I created a Facebook Group Page for CCAC South Campus. Information and books seem to be pretty specific to each campus, so I thought it would be beneficial to have a place to post information and get help for South students.
This is also for when school actually starts, and when people have questions about classes and assignments at South Campus. Hopefully we can help each other survive nursing school :)

If you are looking for general information for all campuses, sewnmom created a GREAT page where a lot of us have been posting information about getting physicals, clearances, uniforms, etc. If you are a South Student, I suggest joining this AND the one above for access to the most info! Thanks for creating that page sewnmom!
I hope this will help everyone. Good luck with getting everything together, and I'll probably see most of you South Students at registration on June 15! :)
