Help with figuring out pay package
Not entirely sure. I just know it is what I've heard.

Help with figuring out pay package
Ok. Because I keep hearing it should never be below 18 or else it is a red flag for the IRS. Just concerned with this being my first assignment and not really understanding all of the tax aspects yet.

Is the taxable rate too low? Where should I try to keep it usually?

Help with figuring out pay package
Ok. I am actually waiting on another recruiter to send me an example pay package as well. The one above is just a basic one to give me an idea of what the numbers will be. I think it will be more because I am PCU/Tele/Stepdown Cardio. I just need help figuring out what the numbers mean so that when I do get other offers, I know what will be more beneficial to me. So a little help please?

Help with figuring out pay package
Hello all! Thanks in advance for taking the time to help me with this. I'm not planning on taking an assignment until April, but asked my recruiter to send me a basic pay package for the area. This will be close to what I will be offered I guess when the time comes. I would use the pan travelers calculator, but I am not sure if I'm using it correctly. $12/hr = reg/taxable rate $500 weekly = housing subsidy $392 weekly = per diem Weekly take home = $1228 For provided housing: $20/hr = reg/taxable rate $392 weekly = per diem Weekly take home = $915. I'm seriously considering taking the housing stipend since they said they would help me with that if I choose that. This all includes benefits, I'm just not sure if that falls under the per diem or reg/taxable rate. Any input would be great and how I could maybe negotiate for a few dollars more when I get closer to that time!

Best specialty for travel?
Didn't realize that particular formation of symbols and letters made an emoticon. As most can guess, that should be nurse : patient ratio

Best specialty for travel?
I think this is the sort of thread I'm looking for. I'm a tele RN and I'm ready to start looking at agencies. I'm hoping to take an assignment sometime in May or June at the latest. I was wondering about the nurse:patient ratios as well. Where I'm at, it is what I would consider high at 1:5/6 on daylight and 1:6/7 on nights and some of those patients are pretty high acuity. How much control would I have in negotiating a ratio or do I have that power at all?

Agency jobs in Pittsburgh area?
I've known Forbes Regional Hospital to use agency nurses before. I don't know which agency it was though. I know this for a fact because I worked there for 3 years as a PCT and met many! Be warned though, that hospital is the roughest of the rough. If you can work there though, you can work anywhere.

RN to BSN folks; Clinical sites in Pittsburgh
I definitely want to do hospice volunteering. I would not mind the Health Dept and would probably prefer to do the Immunizations clinic. For the non-acute care setting, I only need 2 8 hour days. I would love to do more with the hospice care though. My program starts in January and ends in December, so I'm just trying to get everything set up in advance so that I'm not scrambling before the term starts. Thank you for responding!

RN to BSN folks; Clinical sites in Pittsburgh
I need a site in at least one, preferably 2, non acute care setting. I've always been interested in volunteering for hospice programs. I was also thinking a couple of days with the Health Department.

RN to BSN folks; Clinical sites in Pittsburgh
Hi everyone! So I have to find a few clinical sites for my program starting in January and I just wanted to know if anyone knew of some agencies that were more receptive to receiving students who have a RN license? I know I've heard of students having a hard time finding places so wanted to check here first. Thanks for taking the time read and hopefully respond!

New Nurse on Progressive Cardio Care Unit
So, I just finished my first week on orientation. It is definitely a lot of information to take in. I do feel myself struggling with transitioning from that role of a nursing student and a aide for so many years. I hope to leave that behind after this week. I just wanted to know if there is anyone that would want to offer up some advice on transitioning or what you may have recommended to someone that was going through the same thing as I am? I'm not having any problems (yet!) and everyone seems to be very welcoming. So I just want to get this transition down and get on with my nursing career! Also, does anyone know of website I could go to and listen to lung sounds? That is an area that I'm still a little bit weary about and want to work on it.
