Caught my first louse today!

He's in a medcup. Can't quite make it up the side. Poor dude. This was mom's "worst nightmare". Really? I have many nightmares involving my children, but headlice doesn't even make the top 10.

Apparently no one has sleepovers, after school activities, or has any contact with any other children outside of the school day, so it's my fault. I had a parent tell me that she knew of 23 families "effected by this horrible disease". The "lice doctors clinic" a treatment center tried to tell parents that they could pinpoint the exact date of infestation...yeah, no.

THIS!!

I had a parent ARGUE with me that her child's case of lice HAD to come from the school because she doesn't go anywhere but school and home. I envisioned mom locking her away like a doll between the two. Amazing.

I had a parent using this same argument with me last year. About 5 minutes into the conversation, she mentions something about afterschool daycare...BINGO. She finally admiited that they play dress up at daycare, with hats and scarves...BINGO. Parents are always looking for someone to blame instead of addressing/resolving the issue. For some reason, the schools get blamed for everything that happens to the precious snowflakes.

So what's the story now? Is Homeboy still kicking it in his med cup crib or did he decide life isn't worth living if he can't be living it up in a head full of hair?

Maybe we should respond to those that this is their worst nightmare with "I know, so much worse than a diagnosis of terminal pediatric cancer!". These snowflakes raising snowflakes need some real perspective. I am being dead serious, we have become such a selfish, myopic society that it needs to be brought out.

I often think about that very thought when some of my truly medical fragile children trudge through while the snowflakes and the snowflake's snowflakes queue up to whine about the banal.

I did actually tell a student last year, that I have students on chemo, with cancer, who have less clinic visits than he does. It did make a difference.

It was apparent at the end of the day that he had expired. So i tossed him in the biohazard trash.

And I really did feel like telling Mrs. Worst nightmare that I'm sure the Mom of our 4th grader on his 2nd round of chemo for a brain tumor would switch places with her in a heartbeat, but I need my job.
