I got my rn license in August of 2017. It is not February 2018 and I still having been able to secure a job. I have associate of science and currently in schoo doing the bsn.I live in south Florida. Why is it so hard to get a job? I'm not even getting interviews. What can I do to increase my chances of getting a job? I thought there was a shortage of nurses.
Your resume needs work. A lot of work. I realize it's probably formatted differently, but it's difficult to read, full of errors and generic. Why do you have an AA and an AS in nursing? It looks like you have been a nurse since 2012 but working as a nursing assistant since that time. That's probably your biggest problem.
Not the be rude, but your English is horrible:"I got my rn license in August of 2017. It is not February 2018 and I still having been able to secure a job. I have associate of science and currently in schoo doing the bsn.I live in south Florida. Why is it so hard to get a job? I'm not even getting interviews. Once you clean up your English, you should be able to secure a job. Maybe...
Dont be rude. OP, did not ask you to grade her grammar, and she is not writing an English paper so who cares?
Have you applied to long term care facilities, nursing homes, or hospitals that are looking for flu-shot nurses seasonally? Try to network with someone who can get you a job in a clinic or just apply to them of course. Networking helps a lot. Keep trying because nursing jobs are like a wheel (a moving one), people get on the wheel and off and maybe you will get on the wheel soon because someone got off for whatever reason.
I'll start with some very basic suggestions.
Nursing Professional
License number:946
I am a skilled, compassionate, and dedicated nurse with more than 4 years of hands-on experience administering care in private homes. Most importantly, I have a passion for helping others and a willingness to go above and beyond for my patients.
Objectives/summaries like this are passé. I would leave out or at least change. You make it sound like you have 4 years of nursing experience. It's too generic. Every nurse can say the same thing. What makes you stand out.
Education
Bachelor of science in Nursing. Capitalize the s in science.
Broward College, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Present. Indicate that the degree is in progress or expected graduation date.
Associate of Science in Nursing
Florida Academy of Nursing, Miramar, Florida, 2016
Associate of Art in Nursing. I would note that this is pre-nursing somehow.
Broward College, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 2012
Professional Experience
Cosulate Health Care Harbor Beach nursing and rehabilition center- Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Consulate is spelled wrong. The first letter of every word in the name (except and) should be capitalized.
Registered Nurse Supervisor, October 2017- Present. Are you really a supervisor? Don't stretch. Your description of duties below is way too generic. I don't really know what you do, but google nurse resumes for some better ideas.
Provide supervision for CNAs providing direct resident care to ensure quality resident care on the assigned unit.
Monitor compliance with resident, record documentation requirement, as directed
Comply with evaluation, treatment, and documentation
