I was in a PMHNP program that started in 2019. I got about 21 hours before covid hit and destroyed every chance I had at clinicals. IN 2021 I decided to get back in school and then my wife suddenly died from a PE. That was in 2022 and at the time it was to much for me to go back to school. Most of the schools I look at now say my credit are too old. Does anyone know of a program that may take my older credits?

I have been in that program since 2019 but have sat out since the Summer of 2020 because I keep losing clinical spots. My preceptor cancelled on me right before classes started this fall so I had to drop again. I have to wait until the Summer of 2022 to try to get into clinicals again. I probably won't. With covid and the amount of people competing for clinical spots its just too much.

The classes are chosen for you and are all online except your clinicals. Lots of busy work, papers, etc. If you can find a school that will find you a preceptor choose that program. I lost my clinical site for this Summer due to this virus. The school isn't being very helpful. With more than half the students not having clinicals, they are going to continue as planned and leave us behind. I will have to sit out till August if nothing changes. I think clinicals could be a problem due to this virus well into next year which is why I am thinking about not continuing.

I started last fall and I have not been to campus yet. Orientation was an online powerpoint module that you had to watch.

If you are full time you take 3 classes at the same time during the semester. There is a lot of busy work but many manage to work full-time. I went PRN,its to much for me to work full-time. I have not been to an on campus session yet. My first one is in May. It's just one day.

You must have a preceptor before you can register for the semester the clinical is in. If you start in the fall of 2020 you start looking then for preceptors for the summer of 2021 (First clinical).

I didn't do an interview for U of A but I got my acceptance in late March. I can't remember when I submitted my app. I applied to several schools. Honestly, the first semester was tough. I made all As but it wasn't easy. Strangely, health assessment was one of the toughest classes. You have to make videos of yourself doing an assessment on someone. There are like 4 separate ones. They are long and you must be precise. Adv Patho was a beast too. Hardest part is trying to find clinical spots. They have a list they give you of clinics and facilities that have current contracts with the college. That doesn't mean you get a spot. It just means you don't have to go through the contracting process if you can find someone willing to precept you. It's stressful doing that while school cause you are emailing and calling while doing the school work. Contracts can take anywhere from a month to 6 months. It's hard to find a spot especially for PMHNP. There simply aren't as many facilities or practices out there as compared to FNP. I chose Alabama due to the low tuition cost and because it is a very large University with a good reputation. And well, they gave me scholarship that covers my tuition and leaves me with a lot of money left so I don't have to work full-time. Having said that, If I found a program that guaranteed me a clinical spot without me having to spend countless hours a day searching, I would pick that program over one that pays my tuition.

You should know by late March.

They extended the deadline for my class so it was late March. It was a weird process. I kept checking my app then I saw it changed to waitlisted. I freaked. I emailed them about it and they said it means you have been conditionally accepted pending a drug screen. They told me I was suppose to get the conditional acceptance before I saw my application change. I got the acceptance letter a few hours later.

I am in the program. You are limited to only doing clinicals in FL, GA, MS, or TN. I think they only take 70-80 or so between the FNP, PMHNP, and Dual.

Had my interview today for PMHNP. Felt I was doing great. Then I stumbled on one question at the end and it ended shortly after. Only 14 minutes. I did tie in a lot of question into other possible questions though which might have made it shorter. I feel lucky to at least get an interview. But still down about it.

I applied for the PMHNP program late. It was early Jan. Took awhile to get my recommendations in. Would have had it done sooner but the professors from my nursing school were on break. I was told since I missed the priority deadline my app would be reviewed in March.

In my final semester we had resume writers come to our class to give us tips. One thing they stressed was having a one page resume. You don't have to go into so much detail.
